I had the exact same thing happen, sort of!

I took my Submariner in for service and walked out with a GMT2C.
Later, I realized I actually didn't like the PCL's and couldn't bring myself
to brush them down (although I think the watch would work for me like this)
so I ended up trading it for a 214270 and some cash. I LOVE the 214270.
Complete stealth.

Congratulations - the GMT2C is an awesome piece!

The bezel on the GMT is horrible, too many numbers.
