Real? Air Kings Pink Dial Circa 1963 Ref. 1008

Can somebody please help me. My wife found this watch on ebay and loves it.
I dont want to spend that much on a fake. Thanks.

I thought that the Air King was available with pink dials and many other colors back then..

Kind of like the famous Beach Daytonas that you can still find NOS at some Dealers....

Not sure that it's worth any premium just because it's uncommon though..

No sir, not on a 5500. There was a salmon colored dial on the 14000 series and pink indicies on the 1142XX series but never a full-on pink dial. With that said, no Rolex ever had "Air-King" written in that font. InterWatches is notorious for reprinting AK dials. I know of several examples which can be traced back to IW.

I have a full list of photos for each dial used on the 5500 AK and I'm building a very large archive of special co-branded 5500 dials. Pink is nowhere to be found!
