SS Daytona...

I'm now ready to buy my second rolex and wanted to get a SS daytona. BUT I don't like the SS dial's. Has anyone got a SS with a panda dial or any dial from the gold range? Was going to ask my AD but they are now shut for the bank holiday!

Yes, it's been done, search the forum. Rolex will *not* do it for you, nor will they service the watch for you after it has been done, so you'll have to source the parts aftermarket (expensive) and find a good watchmaker to mod (and subsequently, when needed, service) it.

Here's one example of a member who did this and also added a custom-made bezel:

Yes you can do it, but it is hard and expensive to get a factory one.

I'm new to the forum and my wife just gave me a SS Daytona with the black dial. This is my first Rolex and my grail watch!

The Daytona looks much better in person than in pictures, so I can only image how amazing that panda dial must be!

Just try the proper original dial for a while; you might just like it. You can always turn it into a Frankenwatch later if you feel you must.

Have you seen the black SS in person? Or the white?

They are very pretty... much prettier in real life.

The closest you can go without modding it is the zenith model. Its not the 116520, but the 16520 (i think). The dials are still white, but instead of the surrounds of the subdials being silver, they are black. Might be an option, but the zenith models are getting harder to come by and are getting more expensive.
