Air-King-Date back from RSC with "T SWISS MADE T" lume dial and new open 6 datewheel
My wife's Air-King-Date (5700 model) arrived today, back fresh from RSC NY. I think it looks great! I'd sent it in with a cheapo aftermarket leather strap, and they were happy to put it on a new croc strap for me, even though I doubt the AKD ever came new on a croc.
It has a new dial, and a new datewheel. The dial and hands definitely seem to be luminova, but the dial says "T SWISS MADE T." Also, I'm psyched that the new datewheel still has an open 6! I've now taken it off the croc strap (I'll probably sell it while it's still unworn) and put it on a lovely shell cordovan strap from our very own Jankoxxx. Now it awaits my wife's approval! I like to cut the RSC boxes cleanly around the edge so that it remains a "box." I also immediately label what the watch is and when it was serviced. The pouch and cloth always a nice touch. -T SWISS MADE T- eh? I don't think this is tritium. Open 6 FTW! |

Very nice. I know it's for your wife, but I would wear that in a heartbeat.

Interesting! I didn't know new date wheels have open 6s. Nice! It's also interesting that Rolex still has tritium-stamped dials that are luminova. I know they did that in the past, but I thought all the new ones were just "swiss" stamped. Thanks for sharing, and congrats!
