Any way 2 get Exp II 42 on silver markers/hands?
Really liking the Exp II 42mm in polar. Havent pulled the trigger on a Rolex sports for a while as I find the 40 mils too small for sports, so ended up buying a Glashutte Sports Evo 42.5mm instead (some of you may have seen the pics). She's a real pretty lady, so not really a regular wearer, which I think the Exp is and is what Im looking for.
OK, there are things about the watch Im not 100% keen on, but then is any watch 100% perfect to ones liking? Ive come close... but never the big 100! So here goes the question, is it possible at all to order or customize (with genuine parts) to have the original unpainted white gold hands and markers? The black just doesnt do it for me! I hate the thought of the paint flaking off after a couple of decades use (as it would be a keeper). Also, not impressed with the bezels painted numbers that Ive seen on a few watches starts to wear off after a few years. Solution? Transparent overcoat or electroplating rather than paint?! Anyway, be interested to hear some thoughts on this? I mean the Daytona white dial looks fine with the white gold markers/hands I just like my watches as "al natural" as possible - if you get my meaning! |

I don't like the sound of that.
The black around the markers brings the whole package together to compliment the black hands and numbers on the bezel. I think it would look out of balance and empty in a way. |

You could have the paint stripped (also would remove lume) from the existing hands and relume it.

You can't order a custom Rolex like that. Once you have your factory fresh Exp2 you can do with it what you like. However, most who see it will assume its a fake if you modify it to that degree

Mmm, was kind of thinking that may be so... might have to consider the black one, looks awesome too, just thought the white stood out more from the rest of the sports range.

I think the black is great if you are looking for a sports watch and are totally in love with the Explorer II in that configuration. If you own multiple Rolex watches or sports watches with a black face, the Explorer II is nice to get in white since not ever model comes in a white dial. Can't go wrong with either at all. I own a white dial and at first I was not in love in with the black dial, but if it was my only sports model Rolex it'd probably go with the black dial.

If you get the new black Expl. II, you could always source a white dial and have it customized. You'll already have WG hands and a dial customizer could get some WG plots for the hour markers.
Or maybe some diamonds!

I agree with Travis. There is also the thought that if you don't like an integral part of the watch, maybe it's time to take it off the list.

Daytona does a perfectly good job of matching white dials and white gold hands/markers... just wishing I suppose... prob end up pulling the trigger! Only reason Im sceptical on the black is because it makes it doesnt set it apart from the rest of the Rolex sports line watches, AND more so... Ive got a Glasshutte Sport Evo that is my sub for the sub (pun intended) and that is black on black. |
