Rolex ad on TV?

Never saw a direct advertising Rolex ad on TV before in Oz, either I see too little TV or is this a new trend? The ad showcased period pictures of historic luminaries including Winston Churchill wearing "the watch" before ending with the Rolex logo. Anyone else here seen the ad? Came just before a BMW end of year sale ad on SBS in one of the breaks airing the Byron Bay Blues festival in Australia. Not that I mind the ad but thought Rolex always advertised on TV indirectly through sponsorships, like it does for the Sydney Hobart Yachting race or golf tournaments, etc.

Can't recall ever seeing a television ad for Rolex here in Australia. Plenty of print ads though.

Sounds like the ad on my Facebook page that keeps popping up on my page. You can also see it in their official Facebook page. Along with a few other new ones.

Thanks, the "Rolex and Icons" ad on FB is the one that appeared on TV!

Damiani Jewelers has had Rolex commercials on OmniTV since about 1996, and continues today. I use to have a VHS tape with a number of adverts from over the years, but lost it in a move.

I've actually seen a couple different ones over there. I remember two that played between Christmas and New Years that were more or less just a person talking and then flashed a watch at the very end. I have never seen one in the states though.

Being the new official timekeeper of Formula One, Rolex has several ads on during the race broadcasts here in the USA.

Rolex ads are seldomly seen in the USA, unless there is a sporting event. They are very common in Europe though, like France & England.

Rolex TV ads are somewhat uncommon here in Canada but are only shown from time to time. Usually we see them during the x-mas season. I haven't seen the spot you mentioned, however all Rolex TV spots are always classy affairs with a high-end sensibility.

In USA, many televised events have Rolex ads...golf, tennis, equestrian, F1, Grand-Am, ALMS, etc

I didn't know they had the Golf channel in Australia. But yeah, here in the USA most Rolex TV ads are associated with sporting events, usually golf or tennis. I suppose they choose sports they feel are a good fit, mainly ones they have also chosen to endorse players in for the same reason. I'd imagine auto racing too, especially F1 naturally. Don't normally see them during Deadliest Catch or Dirty Jobs.

Really?

Never ever seen a Rolex TV ad in England. And I watch a lot of TV!
(The word Rolex can obviously be seen in Golf and F1 programmes but never a dedicated advert).

How do you know this?
