Cleaning that works for me
I know there has been lots of threads regarding cleaning of our watches and I wanted to share what works for me. I bought a soft horse hair brush. I take a small dish and put in some warm water and dish soap. I take the brush and gently go over all the cracks and crevasses of my Sub C. Then I rinse and dry with an old t shirt. My watch comes out looking brand new. I like this method as its very effective while its in no way polishing. Just what works for me.

Is dish soap considered "mild soap"?

I think you can do better with an old toothbrush with bristles that can reach deeper into those gaps in the bracelet and clasp. If you don't like to use bath soap, use baby shampoo. The trick is to get the gunk out.

I've been cleaning my Rolex with an old tooth brush and whatever hand soap happens to be available followed by a good rinse for over 35 years.

Why don't you just use the Larry Tools patented Rolex Wash-a-Matic? Fully winds your watch in 3 nano-seconds, too.

I use Dawn dish soap, old toothbrush, quick rinse and then a spritz with Varaet, another scrub with the brush, rinse and then microfiber dry, works like a charm once or twice a week.
These watches really don't need the babying that we give them but we do it anyway.

The key for me is the toothbrush, I've used veraet/soap/shampoo/bodywash/dishsoap, as long as you use it with a toothbrush they all work great...

Diluted dish soap like Dawn will remove the oil between the links and leave it spot free clean. I have used this method for years.

In the summer I go to private park that has a pool. I go there almost every day. What ever chemicals they put in my DD is cleaner than new. I rise it off when I'm done.

As far as I know dish soap is not good for the seals. The grease cutting properties can dry them out over time. I use a mild hand soap and a soft toothbrush.
