Would love to meet you both. If you do come, we normally run backstage after final bows to put the props away, change, etc. then come back out to talk to family and friends. If you can stay, please feel free to ask for me and the group will point and laugh, or point me out, whichever they're feeling like :-)

It really is a great troupe. We tend to do 3 to 4 shows per year, usually Shakespeare or another classical play. I can't say enough good stuff about them.

We are babysitting for our youngest granddaughter on July 13 while her parents take her older sister to Hershy Park for the weekend. We are out of town on July 19 and 20. We have Woolly Mammoth tickets on Wednesday, July 24. My daughter-in-law got Nats tickets for me, my son and her father (as a belated Fathers Day gift) for Friday, July 26.

Keep me posted on future productions. We'll try to get to one of them.

Waaaa! Ah well. Have good trips, and I'll let you know about other shows. The next one coming up is a very little known play by John Ford to be performed at the Greenbelt Arts Center in August. It's called "'Tis Pity She's a Whore" (pardon my French please). It runs 8/16 through 8/31. I am not in it, but it will be fabulous as all Rudes plays are.

Now that's one tree that seems to grow anywhere! We have lots of those in our neighborhood, mostly in the fuchsia color. Very tough and beautiful.

We have several crape myrtles here, too, Art. I like to see all the different colors. There is a professor at Oklahoma State University (I think he is still there), who has developed several unique color variations and dwarf varieties, even. A friend who has done quite a bit of landscaping for us the past couple of summers is my source of info on that little tidbit. The ones around our yard vary from about 3' feet tall to over 20'.

Very interesting, d. Some of ours are tall with a trunk like a tree and others are more like a shrub. Maybe they are dwarfs. I thought that was just how the yard man was keeping some of them. I must learn more.

Good morning Coffeeshop!

I was supposed to wake up at my friend's cottage today but, alas, due to a last minute problem we had to cancel the trip. We were a bit bummed by this but the problem was rather important and we're just glad it's solved now. Chances are I won't be able to get another weekend off for another trip so if they go back it will be without me but at least we shall enjoy the weekend, perhaps it will be the perfect time to go out and enjoy life with my friends.

Fresh pineapples are wonderful. These plants here are a special kind that was given to him by a resort in Orlando who had them brought in from Hawaii to plant around the grounds

That sure is nice!

As for the lizard, it's not a green one like this little fellow, I'm talking about the brown one on the white-ish leaf above the pineapple on the right.

My parents got a set of dishes from Stangl pottery in Flemington NJ in the early 1940's. Over the years a few got broken, but some survived and my idiot brother and I have some of the pieces. Of course my brother has more since he believes in primogeniture and is a greedy little miser.

That aside, I recall visiting this factory when I was a little kid, and they were still in production. These photos are from 2002 when my idiot brother and I went back to NJ for a nostalgia trip.

Great pics. I'm always amazed to see bottle kilns in the US. Such a throwback to the old Staffordshire originals they're derived from. I had the opportunity to do some research in Staffordshire, and over the years a fair amount on US potteries, and it's not an accidental overlap: US pottery-making towns in fact had immigrants from Staffordshire.

Stangl is very collectible these days, lots of fans. Fulper had some beautiful Arts and Crafts wares.

If it makes you feel better you still have a few more pounds then I do as I am hovering right around 115lbs........

How tall are you Leo? I'm 5'7", when I took a look at all those calculations you make to see if you're at your good weight it was written that the result of the said calculation should be 18.something and 24.something. I'm at 21, which is right at the very middle, and I have no intention of losing more weight...

After all, my goal is to be healthy, not to be like...

I actually am not certain how tall I am...when I was younger I was 5'5" but being a person of "Middle Age" I may have started the "normal shrinkage" so somewhere right around that height!!!

Bottle kilns.... so that's what they're called. They do look like a cute milk bottle. Wow - wouldn't one make a terrific wood-fire oven for pizza making? I say that half seriously - we had lunch in Colorado Springs at a place called Colorado Mountain Brewery, which was housed in another former Van Briggle factory site. The building was originally built as a roundhouse for the railroad, but it was used for a while by VB after that. Only the rock exterior remains, and it's really not very recognizable as a round house anymore (though the structure does have a semicircular curve to it), much less a pottery factory.

They had yummy food and yummy beer. Dave ordered a filet and I got stuffed trout.

2 important safety tips on roundhouse kicks: 1) ALWAYS pivot the bottom foot else you wrench your knee and start damage that will haunt you for years to come. 2) high kicks, don't forget to point the toes and hit with the top of the foot. Otherwise, you tend to break toes or other bad things I don't want to think about regarding where the toes might end up :-)

No. He gave it 10 really strong years. 3x week +sparring class on Saturday's as well as daily summer camp every year. He was on the demo team, attended tournaments and eventually beame a jr instructor. I couldn't complain when he stopped as he gave it his all for so long. I'd like to see him study another style or open his own dojo someday wherever he settles down. I don't know if he will but in the end he got all I wanted him to out of it so my job is complete.
