Crown came out of my 1803?!

I was trying to set the date on my 1803 and the crown came out. I can get it back in, but if I try to set the date it just comes out again. It will wind, but I just can't set the date or time. Am I missing something here, or should I take it in to have it looked at? Thanks for the help! Sorry if this should be in the vintage section.

Ummm, yes it should be looked at. I wouldn't keep putting in and out, get it checked, when was the last time it had a service? It might be an easy fix it it's had a recent service. Let us know how you make out.

If your brave enough you can open the caseback and see if the stem screw needs to be tightened as padi56 suggested, or it could be a keyless works issue. If not it maybe time to get it serviced...

Exactly the way I've found myself getting a service. Unless you know that service was done recently, this is a pretty good indicator.

It's happened to me and sent to Rik Dietel and no worries--watch back to me in a few days without needing service.
