SS Daytona.
I much more like chronographs, and
I'm not big on straps.
When I go for a gold watch it will have to have a gold bracelet.

Good point, since I picked up a Victorinox a few years ago with 3 sub dials, I have gone only for the simple, clean looks in my better watches. That's why, of all models in the Rolex line, the Daytona just doesn't do it for me. It's muscular looking, and the complications are impressive, but, like you said, too much going on.

Of the two, I'd buy the Daytona, then flip it for a SS datejust on a super jubilee :)

You didn't say, but if you are talking new then on paper the DJ is might be the better buy because the msrp is higher than the Daytona. Then again, maybe there is a reason they would discount it so heavily. Perhaps it isn't the better buy but rather is overpriced at msrp. If you are talking used then all other things being equal (i.e. age, condition, last service, etc.) being the same price would suggest the Daytona has held its value better.

IMO the DJ on a strap is less versatile, more of a office/dress watch than if it was on a bracelet. If you are in a suit and tie 5 days/week it might be the more logical choice. Of course, no rule is hard and fast. Phil Mickelson plays golf with a Cellini on strap.

How important to you is having a date function? If you think this may be a problem you'd better work it out before buying the Daytona.

Will you be in water with it a lot? I'm not well versed on straps but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't do well over time exposed to water. Leather usually doesn't.

I know, I've probably just complicated things.

Btw, since you asked, I'm not big on strapped Rolexes so I'd go Daytona.

Plenty of brick houses on this side of the pond. Just depends on which region you are in. Other than cost, varying geology and weather dictates the optimal building material.
The UK is smaller than Nevada, geographically similar throughout. Would make sense having uniformed brick houses throughout the UK.
How did you arrive at comparing UK (green, lush) to Nevada (desert) ?

I've seen a few interviews with people that have had their homes completely obliterated 3 times. Surely if it happens to you twice you need to start thinking that you're building it wrong? Why build it a third time exactly the same way?

Not trying to start a fight here, it's a genuine question
Home is home, no matter where you are. I live in Tornado Alley, and I wouldn't think of moving any where else on earth.

This really isn't that bad of a place at all, remember, your peeps left your land to come start this one. They knew what was up.

You may want to re-read that. It is however off topic.
I stated that the UK is smaller than NV.
I stated that the UK is geographically similar throughout (green, lush as you say)
I stated that being that the UK is geographically similar, it would make sense that the majority of the houses in the UK are brick and mortar.
NV isn't just desert. Your'e thinking of Southern NV, Las Vegas etc. Northern NV can get as green as Northern California.
I could be equally wrong about the UK being geographically similar throughout.
I will not derail the thread any further.

For me it's the Daytona. I just traded my RG/SS DJ and picked up the SS Daytona.
