Gettin Started
Hello, This is my very first post, and it is basically to say hi.
I love watches and I am waiting for my very first Rolex to arrive...waiting for a Rolex??? then it must be a...yep You guessed it right a SS Daytona white face. Will my wait be long? Hope not that long, I gave my down payment this December. My local Dealer who became a friend and mentor on watches tells me he will get a Daytona this February.. but ignores if it will be white or black face... he gets about 3 or 4 a year and has promised me the very next one he gets. I currently own: Cartier Santos Galbee: 2 Tone, Automatic, Silver Guilloche Face. Omega Constellation Classic: SS, Automatic, White Face. Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tachymeter: Black Face with Red and Silver hands, Rubber Strap. Movado Eliro Chronograph: Rubber Strap. On the not so fancy side of watches I also have a Bulova Marine Star Chronometer, a Timex Watch/Heart Rate Monitor and a Swatch Colto Maltes Special Edition. So a little bit of everything for whatever the occasion might be. This watch thing is crazy, I have not yet received the Daytona and I am already thinking on what I will but next!!!! jajajaja sounds familiar? I have several options in mind from a 50th Anniversary Speedmaster Omega (my dealer has one of those special editions that only 1957 where made), a Breitling Navitimer World Chrono, a Jaeger Le Coultre Master Calendar, a Ferrari Gran Turismo Chrono By Panerai and finally a Zenith Chronomaster Open XXT. Suggestions anyone? Regards, |

Welcome to TRF, Miguel. Glad you found our friendly forum.
You've got a nice eclectic collection there. Enjoy it. As for already looking for your next watch even though you haven't gotten the one on order, it's a natural part of the disease we call watchaholism. It's chronic and incurable. So just enjoy it and go with the flow. The only thing the disease will affect is your bank account. But what is money for anyway? Right, to buy more watches.

As you are getting a chronograph in the Daytona, I would suggest that you look at a Pam111. It is 44mm and is great value. It really makes a statement and you get to enjoy some pretty cool straps and Panerai things.
Welcome and I hope you get your Daytona soon.

Welcome to the forums, Miguel.
The Speedy 1957 is an interesting watch and would be a splendid next purchase.

Hey Miguel,
I also have that same Movado. It has definitely held it's own in my collection. |

Thank you all very much for the welcome!
Yes Zilla99 The Movado is a nice low cost watch that every one will say: "hey, that's a nice watch!" Steve I was looking at the Panerai you suggested, it is a Luminor Marina 111 Historic Collection! it is in deed a nice Watch, I will see if my dealer has one to try it on! Steve what do you know about the calibers from Panerai? I mean I know the Calibers that Paneari manufacture themselves are very good but how about the ETA they modify? I have read some comments that they are Heavily modified just as IWC does. My point is Panerai and also Breitling Chronos which I both like use ETA ebauches, and the Price of the Panerai is much higher compared to say a TAG Carrera that uses the same ETA Valjoux 7750 (again modified by each manufacture). I guess what I am trying to get is: if we are to spend 8k or above is it better to spend them on a whatch that has an in house movement? such as JLC or Rolex Paul, the Speedmaster sounds like a good long term investment sine only 1957 of these where made, does anyone know if this coaxial movement they are using is the new coaxial developed by Omega? The movement on this whatch is very beautiful, it is not automatic, it is hand wound, I am uncertain if this is the same movement they used on the original Spedmaster that went to the moon or if this is the new coaxial movement... help please! Thanks everyone! |
