Well since I only purchased it several months ago yes I do. I bought it as my retirement gift for myself after 26 years as a police officer. I did not put it on until my last day of work. I don't ever plan on selling it, not ever!
The fact that this model has been discontinued makes it even more special to me.

Still have my first.......a Submariner. Sadly, I seldom wear it anymore since I acquired a few Pateks and a Lange. Nonetheless, I will continue to keep it and give it to my son when he graduates college. He's only 11 now, so it will be sitting for a while.

Here's my first crown...acquired a little over a month ago as I only recently developed a fascination for mechanical watches. I don't think I can ever flip this one.

Sadly, no. I had an "Oyster Perpetual" with a blue dial in 1970. That's about all I can remember of it. It may have been 34mm. My boss went to Switzerland on vacation and bought that for me and a GMT Master for himself. I don't recall the model # of either watch. His was $195 and mine $120, if misery serves.
I wore that watch 24/7, moved from NJ to AZ with it, rode a motorcycle in the heat, swam in the pool, and it performed fine. In the early 70's I got into my other hobby and traded the watch for a gun, which I still have, thankfully, and it has increased in value. BTW I wore that Rolex when I was doing some work on my car. (1968 Chrysler Newport). I went to the parts store and was putting some part in whilst parked. I took off the watch, a bracelet (silver), and my college ring placing them on the fender. Yep, I drove away with the stuff on the fender and soon realized my error! I tore ass back to the scene and recovered the watch which had been run over. I found the bracelet scratched, never found the ring. I was PO'd big time so I drove from NJ to NYC, first and only time I did that, too impatient to take the train. I went to an AD (RSC??) by the skating rink in Rockefeller Center and left the watch with them. They told me it would need a new bracelet, and I don't recall what else was said. It was not running and I think the crystal was cracked, or at least pressed into the pinion stopping the hands. I don't remember all the details. Some time later they returned the watch to me after I sent them a check for the damages, $55 as I recall, about half the price of the watch new. |

Yes, through a strange set of events. I bought the TT Ladies Yachtmaster in 1997 at an AD who told me it would be the last watch I would ever buy (snicker). It rarely ever left my wrist for about 13 years. Then I went to a friend's wake and realized when I got home that the watch wasn't there, and wondered if it had fallen off at the wake (the clasp had let go a few times and I should have had it looked to before then). I checked there, checked around the area, checked the pawn shops, tore the house apart to see if I'd happened to leave it by accident, and reluctantly gave it up for gone and replaced it with one I got from FleaBay (before I knew you guys, and a big mistake, but that's another story for another time).
A year or so later, while cleaning, I moved a suitcase that I'd moved dozens of times before and what fell out of the top when I lifted the handle?.... She's having a spa treatment right now, a clasp repair, and an overhaul (her first, it's time).
