Tudor Princess Oysterdate repair

Hi y'all! Thanks to the kind help from so many here, I was able to authenticate a gorgeous Tudor Princess Oysterdate that I found on eBay. My husband purchased the watch for me for Christmas 2011 and it has been fabulous. But just yesterday I noticed some condensation inside the watch. The local watchmaker said he could fix it but it would take a month or more and cost between $500 and $800. He said it was probably the crown or the tube. Does that sound right? It's the nicest watch I've ever owned and I understood that maintenance on it would be expensive, but I wasn't quite prepared for the cost, especially given that we only paid $450 for the watch. What do you all think I should do?

Thank you so much; this site has been such a wealth of information and everyone has been so helpful. I hope you can help me again! :)

Hi mmgerrd. Do you live in NoVA? Herndon Clock and Watch in Herndon is REALLY great if you want a second opinion.

best bet would be to bring it to a rolex service center. i had my prince oyster date serviced at the rsc recently and they charged me $100 and it took 2 weeks. they changed all the gaskets and the crown tube.

Nice pictures, thank you! I wasn't sure what the emblem was so I googled for it and found that it's Philippine Airlines. Apparently PAL used to award the watch for 25 years of service. Is that right? Very cool.

Follow-up

I bit the bullet and drove up to Herndon Clock and Watch yesterday. The watchmaker was really nice. He took my watch apart right away to get the condensation out. After looking over the watch, he quoted $350 for a complete overhaul and new stem (tube?). He says the work should take about 3 weeks. I'll let y'all know when I get the watch back.

Thanks, Mikki, for the recommendation!

You're very welcome. Dung is the best! He's Rolex certified, has a parts account with Rolex/Tudor and when you get the watch back, you may not recognize it since it will look brand new.
