Nice watches guys, that double dialled Pamy on your listing Jason is just superb.
Here is one of my favourites from two totally different ends of the horological spectrum, the Tudor sub is C 1970's and the sedan clock movement is from the 1780's |

How do you guys & gals get such fantastic pics? I can barely get a focussed pic of my watch. I have a Canon powershot sd1000, which I realize is just a handheld, but it seems to take great pics of people, trees, etc. Any ideas on getting some super pics? (I know that there have been much discusion on this, just can's seem to find the topics anywhere).....thanks...gha

You need to use "MACRO" mode, FLASH OFF, and preferably a tripod or some solid surface to place the camera on. A rock steady hand also helps!! I use this baby....

Thank's JJ........I guess it's like anything else...practice practice practice......although I would rather spend that practice time with the person in Jason's pic. After all, she did grow up just a few miles from me......I will keep trying....thank's....gha

Also, be very careful with your focusing. If your camera has the AiAF function (it should) turn it OFF. You can access it in the menu of your camera. It doesn't work well at all. When you're focusing on your subject, make sure you center the focusing box on the LCD over the part of the subject you want to be in focus, press the shutter halfway down until you get the confirmation double beep and the box turns green. If the box turns yellow, it means good focus has not been acheived, either because you're too close to the subject, or because the camera doesn't have something contrasty to lock onto. Remember, when shooting in macro mode, the depth of field is very shallow, so the camera needs to be held very steady, so a tripod is a good idea, but you can brace it on something if you don't have one. After focus is locked, press the shutter button very smoothly until the shutter fires. Remember, it's a two stage shutter button action: halfway until focus is confirmed, then all the way to take the shot. Doing it this way minimizes camera shake, and your shots will be sharper. Good luck! |

My pleasure. Just remember that when shooting really close in macro mode, any movement at all can throw the shot out of focus, so it's important to steady the camera. Have fun with it! The little Canons are capable of outstanding output once you understand their limitations.

They're not showing up, Gha. Are you hosting them somewhere? A good way to make sure they show up is to preview your post before submitting it.

Still nothing like JJ's, or Jasons, or any # of others here. Also don't remember the "photobucket" transfer/copy to post, think I just got lucky. My excuse is that I don't take alot of pic's, even if we go on vacation. Don't know why......gha
