It depends what year you bought your Rolex. The coronet etched became standard on watches made after 2002.

I bought mine from an AD in September '07. I cannot see the crown.

You really can't see the crown or coronet without magnification, it just looks like a dust speck to the naked eye, you may need to use a loupe.

I've also noticed some are easier to see than others......also need the right amount of light/angle/ect........

This is a good photography challenge! It's difficult enough to see with a loupe! I might have a go with my macro settings - my pics of the winder crown I took came out pretty good - but this LEC image is going to be very fugitive to get!

I actually used the Super-Macro setting on my Canon S2IS 5 MP digital to get a good shot on the LEC. The lens was almost touching the bezel when I took the shot!
