I can relate...started with a Tag Carrera and flipped it to an EXP II within 2 months. Good choice!

Congrats, welcome, and nice job not knocking the TAG line. I don't care ,much for any of them due to their distinctive lineage of styling that just does not resonate with me. But I get that it's 'to each his own' and I know a few TAG owners who have several so that say something positive for the brand in and of itself.

Love the Sub I got, but still look at the Tag on my brothers arm and think "nice watch"

Great story, enjoy your GMTIIc! If it means anything to you, my Omega flipping habit ceased when I moved to Rolex. We'll see how long that lasts!

BTW, mine says hi...

Congrats. I am also a Tag to Rolex guy but I still have my tag. It's the first serious watch (kinda) and a gift from my dad so it's not leaving me for whatever reason.

Congrats! The GMTIIc is a nice watch. The 1887 is also no slouch - nice finishing and movement. Too bad you couldn't have kept both! :)

Welcome and congrats on acquiring the GMT!
TAG does seem to start a path to Rolex in most cases.

Tag make a great watch - build quality, engineering and just about everything - I for one certainly would not knock them at all. Rolex feels like more than a watch though - and whilst few will argue that they are the absolute best watch out there, there is just something about the brand, build, engineering history etc that makes them unique and puts them 'up there' for so many people.

My wife bought me a Tag chronograph for our 10th year anniversary several years ago and I've enjoyed it a great deal. However I just kept looking at the TT GMT2c and finally decided to buy one from TRF member Tony at justrolexes. I will keep my Tag because it's a great watch and I love that my wife gave it to me but my GMT makes the Tag look like a weekend watch.
