Confused about date of my Rolex
So my Dad recently gave me a vintage Rolex of his (pictured below).
The model number is 6569 and the serial number is 356867. After checking a number of charts this serial number implies it is a 1945 watch, however after some research my watch seems to resemble the later 1950 Oyster perpetuals, not any 1945 watch. Could anybody help shed some light upon when this watch was made or any other information? Thanks |

Hi there, welcome aboard!
In 1953, Rolex reached 999,999 then started over again at 10,000. Yours should be circa 1958.

The serial reset in the 1950s really causes problems for folks.

Thanks for the replies everybody!
After some googling of the serial number reset I've determined that it must be a 1955 model which finally makes sense. I'm really happy with this present from Dad as it's my first vintage watch! He'll also be happy to know that I finally have some information about it because he had no clue when it was made or anything. |

One more question, just out of interest, how much would the watch be worth nowadays? I'd love to know my new watch's value..

Oh okay, thanks for the info. Didn't stop to think that those serial number tables might be wrong.
It's nice to finally have some expert knowledge instead of relying on my pitiful attempts at googling the information. |

the problem is that ..

moeover ( as already written above ) the " reset " of case numbers made at the beginning of 1954 has created further confusion. very very few people have " internal " production tables that on the contrary are correct ( as based on internal factory informations ) but are not allowed to share them ( and in fact they have never been published ). so if you ask .. I can well answer you with the correct year of production but I can't share the tables. |
