Clasp of submariner
Does anyone know why the clasp of the new sub c is welded to the bracelet instead of being screwed or pinned like any other watch brand does ???

Why Rolex did this....is something we'll never know for sure. But just like when lug holes disappeared, it was just for aesthetics really.
There were some weld failures with a few early GMT2s but they seemed to have worked it out as none have been further reported from late serial numbers and have never heard of it on a Sub at all. |

Not a reported problem, at least on TRF. Only issues I've read about we're from GMTs and that was 5 years ago. That issue seems to be corrected now. The glide lock clasp has been modified recently too. It's still welded but slightly changed. See this thread...
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...asp+comparison Edit: just wanted to say I too question why Rolex welded the clasp. I would have preferred it to have been pinned or screwed to bracelet. |
