Omega in "Killing Kennedy"

My copy of this months National Geographic just arrived this morning and I was having a flick through it while I had lunch.
On the inside back cover I noticed an advert for a new National Geographic docu-drama called "Killing Kennedy" staring Rob Lowe. In the ad he appears to be wearing the square Omega that Kennedy made famous...

I can't tell whether it's original or the re-issue but at least they're making the effort.

After the Argo debacle, with Ben Affleck wearing a Rolex Deep Sea throughout despite the movie being set in the seventies, it's nice to see producers looking at watches and trying to get it right!

I can't quite tell from the pics if the watch is correct or if it's just a square gold watch but I will now watch the show with interest. I hope they've got it right!

Yeah, the more I was looking at it the more I think it's not right...

Weird that they'd get it right that he wore a distinctive small, gold, SQUARE watch but not then get it right...

Lovely watch.
My eyes haven't quite got used to the square dial but it really does make it stand out from the crowd.

I'm looking forward to seeing the show now in the hope of getting a better look at the watch and working out if they've got it right or not...

I don't think it was a debacle. The CIA always gets their hands on new technology before the general public. Rolex probably just gave them a prototype 25-30 years before its official release.
