Opening rolex destroy and waterproof seal?

I was requested by my insurance company to get my rolexes appraised.

I took them to an AD with a watchmaker on premises in order to get it appraised. In order to verify it, he opened the back of the watches up to verify the movements.

I was wondering if by doing this any seals of any sort are broken making it less waterproof than when originally from the factory.

Any input?

if you went to rolex AD with a good watch maker on site, personally i don't see any issues.

Well yeah. It needs to be pressure tested again to ensure the thing is sealed correctly. Personally, I pressure test my Rolexs and Omegas annually. A lot of folks around here do. Better safe than sorry

I doubt it would break the seals but definitely should get them recheck for water resistance (it should have been part of the service)

No... there is no magic inside a Rolex that will suddenly fall out if opened, nor is there a "special sealing" done at the factory..

Your watchmaker will replace the back and ensure proper sealing exactly like it was done when it left the factory.........

With hopefully a pressure test and some replacement fairy dust for good measure.

there's just a gasket. no magic 'seal'. just turn until tight. pressure test if desired. go for a swim.

after 5 years of daily showers or saltwater use i'd change all case and crown gaskets but even then only if needed.

on vintage with no service history or aftermarket parts, i'd certainly do a press test every 2 yrs min.
