Difficulty in winding...
Hello!
I own a 7021/0 Tudor. What is hapenning is the following: When i try to manually wind the watch it is very hard. If i insist, it does two - three turns but the watch is shaking - it feels like the eccentric piece which does the automatic winding is directly engaged with the crown (Sorry i don't know to describe this piece better, and i am not familiar with the terminology). After the 2 - 3 turns like that, the crown falls in a very smooth and "correct" feeling, simmilar to any other automatic watch i have. The funny thing is that i took it to an experienced watchmaker but the problem i am talking about did not appear so i looked like a complete idiot! Can somebody help me on this? Thanks!! |

Snatched someones pic for this.
Well, good purpose. If the rotor is wobbling because of the manual winding, either of the ratchet wheel right below rotor is stucking when it should be free-wheeling. You can see one ratchet wheel on the pic right above rotor. It's pretty common fail with ETA movements. The stuck can open occasionally - and of course by the Murphy's law then, when it's going to look you like idiot :) I assume you described the symptoms to watchmaker. Just based on the description he should have known what's wrong. Those ratchets are no super-expensive so it's all the same to replace them especially if they stuck. |

Too much oil on the reversing wheels and or they are worn out problem is that model has been discontinued for parts from Rolex. Rikki

What a small world, Dionissis. I might had in my hands your watch and the very first thing that i noticed, when i tried to wind it, is what you have described above.
Is it a blue snowflake that you have bought it from the shop in Likavitou str ? Last edited by Tools; 22 November 2013 at 01:38 AM.. |
