Question on new purchase (tags)

I recently purchased a new SubC from my local AD and when I got home, I noticed I did not have one of the tags which was on the bracelet. There are two tags, I have one tag with the Rolex log thing on it but missing the other with model and serial number. So I emailed the AD asking for this and they told me the store keeps that tag for inventory purposes. Is this legit?? I believe I should have ownership to that tag but wanted your input.

Thanks!

Yes, some AD's do this, some do not. You got the important part, congrats!

Correct and some do keep inventory tag. I have had sets with them and some without. At the end of the day it makes no difference to value of your watch so enjoy it! Cheers,

I would go into the AD, and ask them nicely to give you the green tag. There is really no reason the AD needs to keep it. Tell them everyone on the TRF gets to keep them!!

Some do and some don't. I never missed the tags on my first Rolex which the AD kept.

Mt AD didn't give me the rectangular tag first time, I confronted her the next time and she called the head of AD to verify that she was mistaken for not giving it to me

Congrats, depending on the AD, most would include the roundish brown Rolex tag and the green rectangular serial tag.

I received the tag that you're asking about but the model number and inventory sticker were removed by the AD. You should be fine without it, I've heard of AD's keeping them.

Interesting post. So what you guys are saying basically the tags really mean doodily squat! If the AD removes the model number and inventory number you can buy both the red and green tags on the forum and make a set and then still have a complete set if you desire? I understand too buy the watch first meaning clean dial, case etc, so all the accessories everyone always pushes as complete B&P really is just a side note.

Sorry to steal the OP post, so how much added value would you guys say a complete set adds in general to the value of a watch when you purchase it? I am not talking about a super rare watch but just the typical watches that are for sale on the forum. Example lets say a 16710 surround. Pristine condition watch only, and one that is pristine and complete? What is the delta on the two? Just curious.
Thanks,
Tom

Tom: I still consider a complete set without the green inventory tag. The watch has box and papers and all booklets and the red tag it is complete. Again some AD's hold it back and some don't and I have had both experiences. It takes zero value away from the watch. Anyone can go buy a green tag with sticker removed and add it if they wanted for a few bucks. In fact the boxes get matched to watch at AD and Rolex is shipped in a plastic coffin. So if someone wanted correct boxes they can buy for a few hundred dollars as well. People get hung up on unimportant details and the two details they should get hung up on are quality of watch and enjoying it.

Thanks Ken! As you have been teaching me buy the very best dial you can granted the case is not all buggered up and the rest of the accessories is just frosting on the cake. I appreciate all the help from every member. We really have a great bunch of people that hang out and give constructive criticism. Most of the time!
Have a great day all!
Aloha,

I really like having both tags. It's just a nice thing to have.

who said you always get the best from ADs and Recommended to buy from ADs than over here ??? JK

You can ask them to give it to you. If they can, they will do within about couple days/a week. But if they say no, you can try to ask to return it. Mostly they give it to the customers, But i've also seen some ADs have to keep it as well.

I don't really see a purpose for it, although I guess it is an addition to a "complete set".

My AD has kept them all on watches I've bought new.
