It's inevitable that such a model is coming, given the fact that Panerai as of lately resembles a cheap italian hooker in the way they go about their loyalty to collectors and their (tongue in cheek) 'exclusivity'. 'New' models are just old models with small tweaks, when something is 'rare and limited', rest assured that another model is already in production which is similar and also 'limited'. I miss the days of small production Panerai. Call me a hopeless nostalgic.

I agree it is a discouraging practice, but it is not a new practice and not unique to panerai or watches....
Whenever something is produced at the start as collectable, it is typically pure marketing hype....collectable things became collectable because no one anticipated their future desire, not because they were ordained by the manufacturer as collectable during initial production... There have been exceptions, but they are few and far far between.

I agree Greg and I have problems even beginning to keep up with the model numbers and associated movements although this is improving as they move to in-house.

While I like the endless combos I don't appreciate their distribution and reissue of SEs.

I feel like no SE is safe. Button line things have changed. They are more mainstream. In doing so they have ticked off many collectors. I feel they need to end the endless SE's.

I'm not one if their top buyer, so not too affected, but I feel like they are diluting themselves a little.

I still love Panerai. You just have to buy them if you love them and don't sweat the money (too much).

Very we'll said Greg!! The days of old with Panerai are long gone. Many collectors dumping pieces that were supposed to be exclusive. Prices sliding as we'll due to excess inventory with exception of Bronzo and few others. I may keep my 289 and 127 but going back to Rolex, AP, Patek.

Why would you go back to Rolex? They make Panerai look low volume. Rolex is the most common and mass produced luxury brand watch. This is the 1% world on the forum. Panerai is still extremely rare and exclusive compared to a more common brand like Rolex in the real world.
Perhaps collectors are missing the point and dont wear and enjoy their Panerai for what it is and designed for.
