to buy, or not to buy Milgaus GV???

Hi all,

Just dropped by my local AD to inquire about the waiting list for the Milgaus GV and they told me I could reserve one and it should be in within one to two months.

First thought was wow, amazing short list! Then the price 2,200 KD ($8,038).

So what do you think - buy or not to buy? That is the question.

Cheers,

Craig

Hmmm, I don't want to be killed, sounds very final!!!

I checked on ebay and couldn't find one there, so I'm thinking if they call I should definitely go for it.

BTW Frostie, do you know anything about Rolex in Cyprus?

Τhe only thing that i've heard about cyprus is that rolex watches are expensive there. I am not 100% sure about it but that's what two guys from cyprus told me at a greek watch forum. Cyprus used to import watches from the greek rolex affiliate but i think that now things have changed

Well I hope the AD actually does call! They don't have the best reputation.

Buy it only if you like it. I would advise against buying something because third parties might kill to get it. To me that is a wholly inadvisable reason to do anything. Put her on, and if you like, get it. Otherwise you will deceive yourself into thinking you have a watch that you like because you are supposed to like it, but deep down really don't like it. That is how a lot of people make decisions from marriage to investments to home buying to college choices...and the decisions are not true to the self making them.

It has no date, and although unique, is quirky, and when you are talking about 8K, you gotta really like it. I for one don't have time to flip these things. My time is money and I can make more money doing other things.

On the other hand, it is beautiful and unique, and maybe will sizzle on your wrist.

BUY. BUY. BUY. That price is fantastic. If you don't like the watch, sell it for $10K or more.
best, dan

Someone here said that they were going for 20K on Ebay. Not sure if anyone was buying at those prices. I doubt it.

Its overpriced and overhyped IMO, that said....I'd buy it to see what all the hubub is about if I had the chance. If I didn't like it, I'd sell it.

Have you handled one yet? If so O.K. If not you may change your opinion after doing so. It is built like a tank, wonderful bracelet, nice and heavy. And that it goes for 1k over MSRP makes it not over priced.

To be fair, no I have not handled one. As I said, if I had the chance to buy a GV for msrp, I would just to see. Why does 1k over msrp make it not overpriced? Isn't over msrp by virtue make it over-priced (over the msrp price)?
In the long run its just supply and demand. Demand outpaces supply right now, that does not mean however that I wish to partake in the demand. In addition it's the "newness" factor keeping prices up.
Price aside, I guess I'm not sold on the looks which is another issue entirely.

Fair enough,

I guess I look at over priced as an item won't sell at a given price. Since the Milgauss sell very quickly at MSRP to me it is not overpriced but maybe under priced.
