WoW! Now that's enjoying a beer!

I think offering a fine scotch whilst shopping is a nice touch... Perhaps served by a few of these fine ladies I've seen above...

The AD where I got my watch has champagne when entering, cappuccino bar, kids area with videos and games, and treated me like royalty. I was referred to this location by a Philly talk radio host so this may be why I got the discount but none the less, they now have a customer for life.

My AD has a coffe pot with tiny paper cups....if at all. The stir sticks are all used and there is usually sugar all over the counter.. Of course there are no actual sugar packs...they've all been spilled. And the coffee is so old it's quite thick..

After you're done you have to carry the tiny paper cup around because the rash can is overfilled. If you set it on their counter they say "Don't forget our coffee !"

The differences between AD's are pretty amazing. Mine is actually pretty posh. The place is amazing inside. It has the champagne, cappuccino/espresso bar/ juice bar and one can be treated like royalty. But, if they don't know you, or know you have money to spend, you're looked at as an unwelcome nuisance. I've bought a few watches there and the first couple of times they began to play the royalty role, but I always had them stop right away. I'm not loaded, not even close. I just wanted to buy something they sell, so why make them go through all the trouble. But, I appreciated the effort at first.

On the other hand, I've seen people walk in there in who weren't dressed to the nines and weren't wearing a Patek or a rock the size of a gold ball and they were pretty much ignored until they showed some kind of promise to the sales rep. It's almost like they had to prove themselves worthy of the sales persons time. That's the one thing I always hated about my AD.

Great thread. ADs should be like a lot of gun shops and tobacco shops I've been to. Friendly people you actually get to know, drop in now and then for conversation and updates on new products, a cup of coffee and comraderie.

Oh yeah, cleavage doesn't hurt either.

I never understood why they let me hold a $25,000 watch but when I borrow the loupe they hang on to the other end of the chain!
