I wrote on here a couple of years ago that this would be my ultimate watch. If Panerai pulled it off I doubt I'd buy another watch ever again..............

Its only a matter of time until they pull the second hand off the 399.

Just a question of how hard it would be to get. How they'll go SE or non-SE basically.

i think we'll see a SE version of 1940 case case, basically a 399 with a 300 movement, they learnt after the announcement of the 449 when they hadn't delivered the all the 373s. Lots of people canceled their orders and the dealers complained, so it'll now be two years from the limited edition precious metal versions with the minerva movement to the more general SE with the in house. In the same way i suspect we'll get a more regular SE versions of the 521 in 2015.

I really hope they go for the brown dial and gold hands with screws like the 399 rather then the spring bars of the 514

I also think we'll get a SE with the new 5000 movement in, so something like the 390 or something like the 5128 but with the 5000 movement

I still think we'll get a 127 with an in-house in the next couple of years

I really hope so guys, because I tried the 514 on at the new OP boutique in Venezia and the case is perfection! I had them pull out a 372 to compare it with and (unlike the 372 refurbished 1950 case) the 1940 case is really a new case, dramatically thinner than the 1950. I think the 399 dial in a 1940 case would be the ultimate fore 2014 and would probably be my first 47mm PAM

I have my fingers crossed (... and that it won't come out in Platinum or rose gold only and not limited to 100 pieces... *sigh*)

p.s. I don't believe the 399 shares the same case as the 514... my bet is that 399 is a 1950 case sans CG...
