Unless you know for a fact that they want to wear the watch and they are there for the watch, then having a jeweler to adjust the watch is completely useless. Just because its a Rolex it does not mean that the recipients are interested in the watch or that model or want to wear on their wrists. Some may not even want to keep it and would pass it over to whoever.

anyway, one of my desires is to get presented one day with a golden Rolex (which I will not wear!) but i would love to have all the above... including the jeweler. lol

I'm sure they will be very grateful to you...temporarily. But once bitten by the bug and they find out just how much your free watch ends up costing them acquiring the next grail and then the next, well...duck for cover!

Hey old buddy, old pal. What about me? I've bought tons of stuff from you.
Seriously I'd got with the jeweler adjusting bracelets, but give the customers the option.
You have good ideas.

Doubtful. He stated his intentions and needs several weeks ago.

I just hope he read the warning from a member who is a CPA.

If you are going to adjust the bracelets there and then, surely they will want to wear them? What will they do with the watch they're wearing? They could put them in the Rolex box, but that's a bit rubbish, how about also providing them with a small watch case for the watch they are currently wearing?
Great point, I didn't consider this in my planning. Maybe I should bring watch pouches that they could put their existing a watches in, then put them in their pocket so the dont have to juggle a a pair of boxes.

Everyone else has been helpful and kind but you. Did I do something to upset you, because you are kind trolling me.

I've got a few other questions.
1. Should we have all recipients hold their open watch box or put the watches on for a group photo?
2. Should the protective film be removed before presenting them?
3. Will I have any problems with airport security carrying these watches in my carry on for a domestic flight?

Keep it simple and classy. The idea of a jeweller there to resize the watches on the spot is a bit tacky to me. And ditch the security guard.

I'd stay on the cautious side of things too, especially if there are Customers in that event NOT getting a watch. Sure you don't want 7 very happy guys and several other very disgruntled ones I'm afraid.

Making it very public might also make it difficult for those guys to be able to keep the gift because of compliance issues with their Employers. If anybody else from their company participates in the event, everybody in their office will know the Monday after.

Too much fanfare might also be a difficult situation to undergo if their personality is on the shy side of things. They will hate the attention they get. Having a public, filmed watch fitting is way more than many might appreciate. I'm not shy, and I wouldn't like it.

Sorry to crash the party before it starts, but unless all of the above are reasonably under control, I'd not do it.

2) Will they understand the value, some non watch people have no comprehension of the price of a Rolex
3) Would it not be more personal visiting the customers one on one with a watch fitter. Just my 2c, I know different cultures view these sort of activities differently.

No matter what it is certainly an amazingly generous gesture. As the head of compliance for our company I am not able to receive gifts from suppliers, it is also my task to ensure others don't receive gifts either. Oh well each industry is different.
While I agree that some have no idea what a Rolex costs, most everyone knows what a Rolex means.

tell them that they have all been entered into a draw , for being special etc ,,, give them an envelope each , and tell them ticket 7 is the winner ... have them pick the envelopes maybe ,,,, have a ticket 7 in each envelope ,,, depends how formal the event is .
have the date and name engraved on the back of each.

My Current Ideas
- Have the watches delivered to the banquet room by security guard
- Present the watches with a jeweler on hand to immediately adjust the band to their wrist
- Film the presentation and send a copy of the video to them

Any other ideas that might make the presentation extra special or exciting?
Jeweler on hand gets my vote..

Amazing gesture....got mine at a breakfast gtg with some longtime friends. They gave me a wrapped gift, when I unwrapped it I knew it was a Rolex, didn't know it was going to be a Daytona. I was blown away.

Good luck.

While the gesture is awesome, personally I think the ideas are over the top, almost tacky.
Do you know the customers well enough to know that they won't be offended by such a brash public display? Will other customers at the function (who don't receive a rolex) harbor ill feelings?
But whether to do it or not is irrelevant since the event is happening regardless...
I would just present the box to each customer and leave it at that...don't make a huge production out of it. Some may have no interest in wearing a rolex...some may be embarrassed if the presentation is made to look like a big production. This is just my 2 cents...

Yeah, this. I don't know the nature of the relationship here, but if I received a gift like that from a supplier, I doubt I could keep it. Receiving a gift of that size from a vendor would represent a conflict of interest and put me in an ethical jam. It's a nice gesture and all, but it may put your customers in an awkward spot. Keep it and risk your job, give it up and feel pretty bad in the process. Neither of those are good options.

Your ideas are great. Make sure the jeweler has spare links on hand for those who want to enlarge.

What if you owned your own business, would you let yourself keep the watch? ;)

Or better yet, have Snow White present the watches to the 7 dwarfs
