If you live long enough, you will see the size trend reverse. I find the proportions of the smaller model to be correct.

The 36mm is so nice. Fits my small wrist very well. Classic size also.

I don't consider 41mm is too big and 36mm too small. My opinion is that the former is more modern and the latter is more classic. In the end choose whatever you think looks better. It's a win-win.

36mm all the way, its proportions are perfect.

I would have loved a Platinum piece, if only they had given the option of a fluted bezel.

The photo in the OP's post of the 41mm, imo looks ridiculous.

It appears to me that it is all case & dome bezel with a small dial in the middle.

Someone posted a week or so back in a different thread about comfort. This may be a left field one to consider. It did stick in my head because while I love my new Daytona and my Sub, neither are even close to as comfortable on my 7.25mm wrist as my 36mm Datejust. So rather than just thinking about size wear both and get a feel for it. While we can all be a slave to fashion, if every watch was as comfortable as my Jubilee banded DJ36 I would be an even happier Rolex owner than I am today.

That's strange, the hands have the same length for both and the dial is very close in size too. The difference in total size is a result of bigger bezel and case.
And that does not make a watch easier to read as far as I know.

I tried on both platty and being a bigger guy the 41 DD2 platty suits me better. So that's the one I got.
I have a DD on leather strap that looks fine too, but I enjoy the DD2 more.

I love the classic 36mm but I wanted something sportier so I opted for 41mm. I've got other watches for dressy occasions.
