First time purchase inquiry
I'm looking into purchasing a pre-owned 36mm women's oyster perpetual datejust 18k jubilee bracelet with the white face and diamonds on the hours. Want to know if it is imperative to have papers and how I can tell how old this watch is. It has the clasp with the crown but not engraved in the inner part of the bezel with serial numbers. Any information would be helpful.

Hi and welcome.
Firstly , although it may appear that way nowadays , the 36mm datejust is a men's watch originally. The serial number will be between the lugs where the bracelet attaches to the watch at 6oclock. You will need to take bracelet off for that. The the watch can be approximately dated. With now serial round dial it will be pre 2006/7 for sure. Depending on where you are getting the watch from I would try to find out if the diamond dial was original to the watch. There are many online sellers that sell after putting a fancier aftermarket ( non rolex) dial on it in the aim of deception. Furthermore there will be a date or clasp code stamped on the inside of bracelt clasp. That will at least help me to date the bracelet and if you can get serial we can date both and hope that they are a match. and welcome

Papers are never "imperative" and less likely to find on older watches. Usually a serial number can give you an approximation of the date of most Rolex watches.. Your description sounds like the many 20+ year old watches that Dealers/Sellers like to fancy up for a quick sale..

Thanks for all the welcoming to the chat. Thank you for the tips also. I feel ok that there are not papers considering. Didn't know this was primarily a men's watch but that's ok too, the other sizes are too small for my liking. I'll post a picture soon maybe that can help out. The seller is a local jewelry store in my town but they're not Rolex certified dealers so they send it out for service and that's the only way to get the serial number, do I ask to do that or just trust it's there ?

As tpoh said, the serial number will be between the bracelet lugs at the 6 o'clock position. Any jeweler should be able to remove the band on that side so you can see it.
Yes, this is a man's watch; how funny that you assumed this was a woman's but I agree, the others are on the small side. Welcome to TRF!
