Sometimes, no matter how much you want to honour the commitment Bill, it just has to end. I was physically, mentally and emotionally at risk for 30 years before I walked out of my marriage. I took only enough belongings that I wouldn't have to sleep or eat on the floor. The first year was the most horrendous year of my life and it was only the counselling and the support of good friends that helped me survive all that followed...including personal bankruptcy. It took some time, but eventually my ex got the help he needed and was able to overcome many of his issues. We have managed to build a strong friendship which has lasted and we've been apart almost 12 years now.

And now you and Al have each other.

First, Al is such a wonderful guy and the best thing that has ever happened to both of you; or

The last guy was such a zero and, other than the devil himself; anyone would be an improvement.
