Calling San Diego
I'm heading to San Diego June 12-15 for the US Open at Torrey Pines. Awww yeah!! I've got a group of four buddies, and we're going to play (and watch) some golf, eat some steak, and have a good time for 4 days.
Anyway, we're looking for a place to stay. Hotels are already slammed and charging out-of-site rates. Anyone got any ideas or inside tips? Sometimes folks rent out their weekend homes (or regular homes) for big sporting events, or you might know a local hotel that flies under the radar. We're looking for a nice place, but we don't need the Four Seasons or anything. Mariott/Hilton category is about our speed. Something downtown or on the Marina would be ideal. Any ideas?? |

You can try Pacific shores in PB ( Pacific Beach ) Damn near right on the boardwalk... About a 15 to 20 min drive to Torrey. PLENTY of night life ( typically under 30 y/o ) in PB...
There is the Bahia. On Mission Bay. About 20-25 min drive to Torrey... Downtown you have the Horton Grand or the Omni and all the nightlife ( 30 and up, mostly ) is downtown!!!! but the drive will be 30 min + to Torrey.. Otherwise, you will be paying out the nose for other higher end hotels... Let me know if you need some more info. I'm one of the last natives here... |
