Don't know, Chris. Try again - perhaps you need one over the 15 to make it happen. If it still doesn't work, PM Lol-X (Steve) and ask about that.

GREAT QUESTION!!!! Who the hell knows, Jim? Since you're from State College, and a solid Pennsylvanian, maybe well get a straight answer from 'across the seas' And think of this, Chirs puts up his 17th thread and hits the jackpot from lots of members here, but he's still sad, cause he can't post.
best, dan

Reasons to keep the watch

1. The company gave it to you as a gesture of recognition. If you sell it you will be the guy who kicked the company recognition program in the nuts.
Watch how it deteriorates afterward.

2. Whatever you buy with the money will fade away with time. 20 years from now it will be gone. This watch will be treasured by your descendants as a token of your superiority. Your kids will brag about your accomplishment and this watch is the trophy.

3. Going to work wearing the Rolex that you EARNED will show future customers and co-workers alike that YOU know what you're doing and are the best among your peers. They didn't earn it - YOU did. You climbed to the top.

4. It sucks having a dead watch. Your Rolex NEVER needs batteries.

Its really none of my business, but I gotta chime in.

I would not sell a watch that was given to you to honor your accomplishments.

He's already expressed that the AK just doesn't speak to him... I would vote for giving it more time. Could be a language barrier issue.

Similar story... where I work, they give a big-screen HDTV away @ Christmas. Draw a name out of the hat kind of thing. The first year they did it, the guy who won was a nondescript night shifter who hadn't been there but a month or so and already had attendance and performance issues. Fair enough. He was surprisingly stoic as he approached the podium to collect his prize. I remember thinking, "gee whiz, smile or something!".

Turns out, he sold the TV within a week for half its worth. I don't think it fit in his living room (ie trunk). To make matters worse, the buyers came back to our business about a month later and tried and collect the receipt. Turns out, something went wrong with it and they wanted to exercise the warranty. I heard the boss sent them packing with some associated fanfare. The employee no longer works there and the whole affair left a pretty bad stink behind. Surprisingly enough, the tradition still continues. In fact, they gave away 3 last Christmas. Moral to the story, "Don't look a gift watch in the mouth"...
