Sub on a Black NATO (Blackberry Camera)
I know this is a lousy pic, but my camera is at work. I think it is a great look and very comfortable.

That strap does look good. A nice alternative to the bracelet.

My SubDate is on a NATO 100% of the time these days, after it came back from RSC last year.

I'm a noob...what is a NATO strap? A Military strap? Strap manufacturer? Style of strap?
It looks really good! |

Looks nice Ed! Something about the black band surrounding a black Sub that just right.

Agree with everyone else - it actually looks pretty cool. I've never been a huge fan of straps - but your picture made me re-evaluate. Maybe I'll try that one day.

Considering the band they come with.....just about any decent comfy band is an improvement.
Afaic....... a black band (pick one) is the only way to fly with a black dial. |

Rolex Sub and Nato strap is sorta from birth especially the fixed lug sub but that topic has been covered.

But is this a NATO strap? Looks like a plain black nylon strap. Please confirm as I want it! I don't care for the NATO and the way the watch sits up high on the interlocking straps.

I agree that the SD would sit too high on a NATO. 16600 belongs on a SEL oyster, with no exceptions. |

Don't let JJ catch wind of this NATO strap.. i hear he errrr.... loves them! pfhhh, i am undecided to be honest, i would like a sub on a Nato if only it wasn't so dangerous with the strain put on the spring bars. I think some 5513's had welded spring bars? im sure thats right, so in that case i would whack a Nato on it knowing that it wouldn't ping off!

I've been examining the SEL's on my Sea-Dweller, and it's pretty clear that they designed it for enhanced security. The end links are so beefy and fit so well that nothing but a direct downward pull of substantial force will put stress on the springbars. If the force is applied from either side, even by a few degrees, all of the stress is on the lugs and endlinks.

James-
I could be wrong and haven't be shown otherwise yet but, if one pin "pops", on a true NATO strap, the watch would still be held down by the other pin. Only way to loose the watch is for both pins to fail at same time... I guess it's possible if your really hard on it and straining the force on the pins but, that's not me so... not too bad!
