Am I being petty here???

Hello everyone.

I ordered 2 pre-owned rolex from an online jeweler. The reviews and feedback on the seller on this forum is good. The watches were a TT YM for the wife with a ruby and diamond dial. Very nice. The one for me was a TT GMT Master IIc. Again, very nice.
The guy got the watch to me before Vtines for the wife and all.

My watch came with only 11 links and would not fit over my hand. I phoned and free of charge, they sent (overnight) one additional link. I did request two links. Supposedly, they only have one in stock. I had the link installed and the watch is still a bit small for my wrist. I need another link and emailed the company with my request.

Now they want $90 - $95 to order the link. The cs rep says that the watches are for 7 1/4 to 7 3/4 wrist and vary from one to another with regards to link count. I have looked at the clasp and it is all the way out. What do you think?? Great transaction up to now.

I am being petty over this. Should I order the link and move on?

Thanks

Is this going to sour the relationship for the any future transactions?
If not ask him to send the additional link free of charge.

I bought 2 new Rolexes from 2 different AD's. I had to pay for the extra links at each place. One was for a SS and the other was for a TT (gold link). It sucks, but that is life when you are bigger than average.

mmm .... I got this watch new and it came with 12 links plus the extension one that is conected to the clasp. I can not see why they should not send you the total links that are supposed to be on this watch, even if it is preowned!
I will push the issue a little!

Did the only jeweller state on the site that links were missing? If not, you as the buyer must expect ALL links to be present. I'd ask for the second link, too, free of charge.

I would hope that a used watch would come with all the original links, but I know that this is not reality. Very few people turn in their removed links when they trade or sell.

The dealer probably got the watch with the links removed and has come halfway for you... I say buy another link and enjoy........

Most new Rolex seem to fit about a 7.5" wrist. Rolex are a bit mean with their bracelet sizes compared to Omega for example who are closer to 8.0".

If it comes with less than the stock number of links and it is not stated on the site, you are entitled to the remaining links.

I have decided or rather I am going to let the seller decide. I will send an email and put the ball in his court. I need the link. He has offered to order at his cost ($90 -95).
I will state some of your comments and see what happens. Not sure what I would do if I was in his position.

Maybe I am a multigazzilionaire who has just discovered his site and orders two or three roleys a day whether I need to or not. Would he turn a guy like this away for a lousy 90 bucks?
Or maybe...closer to reality. A poor sap who fell in love with a rolex model and had to order two because the wife would never let me live it down if I only ordered one for me. Will he take an extra 90 from me?

I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Thanks

I suspect that since he offered the link at his cost, when you email him to "put the ball in his court", that you will get the same.....the link at his cost.

Sounds like him ordering the link "at his cost" is really "at your cost" - unless it specified that the watch was short a certain amount of links, I'd press for him to order free of charge. Now, it is up to you whether or not you wish to do business with them again.

If so, you my want to suck up the $90 to save hundreds or more later on!

Best,

Nick

I bought my Sub a month ago today. I have an 8" wrist and had to buy two extra links @ $35 apiece. I now have 12 links. So it sounds like you already may have one extra link than what it came with originally. You'd think at these prices they would be a little more accommodating.

Update on my email to the seller.

Thanks to you guys.....I used some of your ideas in my email and was successful. Nick......I really liked your line and used it verbatim.

My additional link will be here shortly.

I think I got lucky with a good seller. Thanks to all. I will give the seller credit in the proper topic section.

usd90 at cost but u are paying for THE cost of it....

its great that u got the link for free cos its less than 1% of what u paid for those 2 watches....

2 watches = ~usd9,000, extra link = usd90, ensuring customer satisfaction= priceless

$90 for a Two tone link...?
I think he is charging for what it should be on the bracelet in the first place, plus the one he already send to you, which was yours again anyway...if you get my drift !!

A real gold TT link is a LOT more expensive than $90. My SS link was $50 18 years ago. Anyway, time to move on.

I have a few "Real" T/T Sub Oyster links for $50 just in case anyone needs an extra one.
