Is this Rolex LV set complete?

Hi all,

Hopefully the picture I have attached with this message appears - if not, please do let me know.

If you have the same rolex as me, maybe you could help me out. I have a Rolex Submariner LV 16610 (2007 model) which I purchased back in 2009 second hand (which has recently been sent off to be serviced). The watch was bought without papers however came with what is shown in the picture. I am not trying to sell my watch, instead what I am trying to do is complete the set (if need be) with the exception of the papers that go with the watch as I realise that this can never be replaced.

The reason for my message is that I recently bought a GMT IIc and it came with a smaller box than the one I currently have for my LV Submariner (as I seem to have a medium sized box). Also when I purchased my Daytona last year, it too came with a small box.

As such, what I a really trying to determine is:

- am I missing anything?
- do I have the correct size box? If not, where could I obtain one which is genuine (I am based in Dubai but travel to UK often) as I have called ADs here in Dubai and they will not sell me a new box
- if I am missing anything, who could I approach in the UK or US so as to replace anything missing?
- as I am missing two links that go with the watch, am I best to purchase these from Rolex themselves or through a second hand dealer.

I appreciate any help or guidance you can share/give me.

Boxes in general are whatever the AD has on his shelf at point of sale,a packaging box is just that a box whether small, med, or so called large.

Oh I see. Ok that makes sense. I only asked due to the fact that I read somewhere on this forum that small boxes are for stainless steel models whereas the box above this in size is for TT or gold.

Well with some of the gold models you might get a wooded box,and with watches like the DSSD you might get the larger green type box.But most of the normal size sports including TT will come in the small type box or whatever the AD has on shelf.Watches are not shipped in the boxes from the factory in Switzerland they are shipped in plastic protective boxes. All other packaging is added at the AD, so some bits might be missing like bezel protectors etc.As these are often discarded when the AD receives the watch in its plastic protective box, as after shipment they serve no real purpose when watch is sold to customer.

Are you kidding me!

$40 for the plastic shipping container, and $255 up for boxes.. Do people actually pay this?

Imagine the fortunes 90% of Rolex buyers have thrown away...

Afraid so and IMHO those that do must be sixpence short of a shilling especially things like bezel protectors even the sticky back clear plastic.Have seen a few on Ebay quoting genuine Rolex clear watch protective stickers for crazy money and they sold to the crazy people that pays for it.

Hence why I made sure to ask my AD for the plastic shipping containers when I bought my GMT II and Daytona as I wanted to have as much of a complete set as I possibly could.

Anyone have any thoughts about what I am missing or what is not original to the set? On a separate note, when did Rolex stop issuing the small calendars as when I bought my new GMT II I didn't get one.

Why? Surely it's the watch you wear and not the plastic box! This whole complete set business is a little OTT for my liking.

Buy, wear and enjoy.. Job done

True say - I make sure to wear every watch that I own every other day. I just like the little extra things that come with the watch though
