I had a mark on my Cyclops that looked like a scratch and the normal (soap and water, windex, wd40) cleaners didn't work. Simichrome worked. I've been using this polish on my watches for over 25 years.
Thanks for the tip.

I used soap and water, windex, and alcohol without any luck. It's worth trying the metal polish.

I would take it back to Rolex as you say it is only 1.5 years old.

I personally wouldn't do too much DIY just yet in case Rolex deem that you contributed to the state of the cyclops and deny fixing it under warranty.

Is the Cyclops plastic?

I always assumed it was sapphire like the crystal...

It's under warrantee. Hand it in and have it replaced. If you start testing products on it, the AD may void your warrantee and charge you for the replacement and service.

Mine has expired and the issue doesn't look like moisture but more like glue. What can I do to fix it?

Rub away with Cape Cod Polish cloth and you'll see it disappear. Make sure you tape up everything else except the cyclops though. Most likely, it is a plastic type of residue that was left on after making contact.

If it's still under warranty just bring it to a RSC & it will be fixed in no time.

Follow-up: The Dallas service center did replace the sapphire crystal under warranty. They did not know what caused the issue. Very prompt, friendly service.

Good to know RSC took care of it.
You may want to check the coronet laser etched into the new crystal to check whether it has the "S" on it.

I think I read here that service crystals no longer have the 'S' mark.

I can only make out the edges of the coronet laser etching with bad lighting and poor eyes. I'll look closer later...

I't could be the coating which has come off. That's the first thing that springs in my mind.
