Go to a bricks and mortar (not Torneau) and do a deal. I have been pleasantly surprised every time.
Only when you're serious though. Don't do it for a tyre kick.

Trusted seller here is the best and lowest price option but you may not have the service and warranty and relationship you would if you buy from your local ad. You should get a 10-15 discount on this model from the ad....

DavidSW can get you one that's BNIB with your name on the card.

Down on luck is not synonymous with being a criminal. Many people have been down on their luck and they do not turn to a life of crime. The thread you posted was most certainly not someone like the sellers previously mentioned. Someone wired money and sent watches to a guy in Romania who had a total of 6 reviews for fairly low dollar transactions. Davidsw gets more than that in a single day for high value purchases.

We get it, your point is to always use an AD, you beat that drum any chance you can get. Move on.

To the OP, do what you are comfortable with. I have done both when it made sense, but I would never hesitate to use someone like Davidsw -- I used him 3 times this year and it has always been flawless.

Wrong.
I would have no problems buying a Rolex from Costco.
My problem is wiring $$$ to some random seller on the Internet.

The other posters on here are trying to he helpful by offering alternatives that might be acceptable to the OP. They are providing references for some of the most respected sellers on here, "not some random seller on the Internet" as you call them. You, on the other hand, impugn the integrity of the hard working sellers on here that have established pristine reputations over many, many years. You stir up anxiety in new buyers by equating some of the most respected sellers on TRF with a guy in Romania with a limited track record. You ignore the fact that many of the TRF sellers being recommended will accept credit cards via paypal (something that has been pointed out to you a couple of times in the past). And you insult these TRF sellers by saying that they will all turn into thieves and crooks if they have a setback in their business. Newsflash -- people have problems all the time and most are not going to steal from others as a result of those problems.

If you want to buy your TP and watch (without stamped papers of course) at the same place, more power to you.

Everybody says AD is so much more expensive. But it depends on
1) what kind of discount you can negotiate at the AD
2) if you buy in the state you live in or out of state (thus avoiding sales tax) at the AD
3) what kind of model it is.
4) what condition the watch is- brand new in box, used, etc.

Depending on all this, the difference between AD and a seller here could be a few hundred to a few thousand.

Service-wise? Ship it to RSC yourself no matter where you buy from.

Think of the extra you pay for at an AD as insurance- insurance that you are buying from a trusted seller, that you are getting a real, not-stolen Rolex and need to authenticate it, and if the AD tries to screw you over, you will be protected.

Ignore what everybody says and do what makes you feel comfortable.

It looks like you have been following my posts but choose to ignore the fact that I have stated if you have to buy grey market than do a face to face deal or pay using CC/Paypal. Never use wire transfer for your own protection. Instead you choose to attack me by just taking bits of posts here and there to paint a false picture.

You can buy the same watch for roughly 5400USD from sellers on the watch forums. Couple months ago, I was able to purchase a BNIB 116234 for less than 5K. Be patient and research the sellers.

I'm still not seeing the link between the Romanian guy and the like of DavidSW.
Sure, random used vendors - maybe. But with David, you'd have as much a chance of being ripped off by an AD.

Well I would not take the risk personally. Purchase from a bricks and mortar shop, yes pay a little bit more, but have the peace if mind. Money cannot buy that in my opinion.

You said no such thing in this thread, you know the one where the OP was seeking advice. It would have been helpful if you had. Instead, you said I only buy from an AD because a TRF trusted seller could go rogue at any minute and effectively equated the true Trusted Sellers on TRF with someone who clearly was not.

100% Agreed.

Do your home work on both sides of the fence. Trusted seller here and at the AD. Check prices, check feedback, check ppwk, boxes etc....

Then make your own decision. Risk vs. Return. How much will you save with a trusted seller for how much risk? (Risk will probably be low, if you do buy here IMHO). Then if all things are equal (new watch, warrantee with your name...) Then make your choice. It is what you feel comfortable with.

Some also like to but from an AD for the experience or assurance that the watch is going to be 100% Rolex. This vs 99% from a trusted seller, unless you have it checked out by an AD then add back the 1%. But to others, the AD experience is a non-issue.

Everyone likes to save a little money. BUT you must choose what YOU feel comfortable with. To me, there is no bad choice here. You go AD, you go trusted seller, you still get a great watch you will love. Both will take you from point A to point B, just a matter of how you want to get there.

If you buy from a place such as Jomasshop, you can take it to the RSC in NYC anytime if you want to get it fixed?
