new to me 1983 16800

Just arrived yesterday. Plans are to send to Rik for service, install silver date disk, and a new crystal with AR cyclops.

Keep everything else original.

Very nice. More pictures please. That's my birth year and would love to get more info on how you found it and a ballpark of how much expected.

So the serial starts with 8324xxx which puts it at the end of 1983. But the clasp has an I4 date code which puts that in 1984.

Obviously its possible that the owner just put a 1984 bracelet on at some point, But it got me thinking about what point a watch gets a serial number.

Is the case engraved when it is made, or when it is assembled?

Yes, ordered a NOS silver date disk with open 6's and 9's that I will send with the watch along with an AR cyclops crystal I ordered.

I thought it was just white/off white...I guess I'll know when the silver wheel arrives.

Congrats. I guess if I ever come across a birth year watch in great condition like this, I'd jump on it.
