Opinions on Day-Date 1803

Still looking for my Day-Date 1803. I've found this one from 1970, and it's pretty much exactly what I'm wanting. Would love to hear the opinions of enablers who know 1803s well.

...in particular, I'm wondering if the dial/hands are replacements, as it's been serviced by Rolex (not sure when though).

The case has been polished much IMO. The lugs should be longer. The space between the bezel n crown should be thicker. The shiny parts on both sides should be puffy. And there is too big a space between the case n bracelet. It's not a safe queen but overall not bad if the price is right. The dial n hands look original. Good luck.

Thanks - that's very useful info.

Anybody else have any input?

Thanks! This was an impulse buy and I did not have the time or foresight to ask the forum's opinion like Zapokee did. Omitohud's observations seems spot on as there is a very slight indentation on the right side of the case that looks like it had been either filled or polished however it is only viewable in the right light. Not a safe queen but I am happy to finally get a goldy

it's gorgeous...so many of these pictures are photo-shopped/taken in odd light, etc - i think some of the evaluation/criticisms to be a little strong.

Congrats on the watch - the white on gold is great!

Took 2 years of German in high school but the only German language I can now remember is my teacher Herr Weiss yelling dummkopf at me. This DD is teaching me the German days of the week in a more golden way. Weiss would be proud

Indeed it is. Another one will come along sooner or later. This is the Wideboy DD I passed over from the same shop last time because the serial number on the case was no longer legible. My heart still skips a beat every time I see it...

i LOVE the wide-boys...just picked up a DJ version with silver dial and WG bezel - something about the way they make the dials look bigger and just POP!
