Icon5 Pre-own Rolex without Booklet

Hi All!

I'm about to get my first rolex watch and I'm looking to acquire a pre-owned Explorer II Ref 216570.

But... a big but is that boxes, tags, serial number cards and everything is intact except for booklet. There's no booklet for the watch.

What's everybody's take on this? Should I get it or should I keep looking?

Price-wise is decent and the watch is in very good condition.

Thanks in advance for any advice! =)

Cheers

If you really want a booklet you can probably find the correct one on ebay. I think I can count the amount of times I've actually looked at the booklet on one hand. It would not stop me from buying it if I really liked the watch. It's not like you will be carrying the booklet around with you everywhere you go.

Got to agree Larry but in today's internet age the bloody packaging and books are deemed more important than the main thing the watch.

To me, the booklet is worth $0.

So...you can guess my opinion on the matter.

And, to clarify, the box, papers, tags, stickers, bags, doo-dads, etc. are all worth a grand, sum total of $0.00 also.

I know for a 1st timer buy, complete package is a big high. For you I'll suggest that if the price is right, go ahead and buy the watch and keep looking for the booklet on Ebay or sales forum (till then take a brochure printout from Rolex website)

Can you figure out how to use the watch without the book? If so, what do you care? Buy it on ebay if it's that important.

For myself I really like complete full sets but if the price is right it would not bother me to buy a nice watch.

I am sure if you want a booklet that much a dealer would happily leave out the watch and not charge you anymore to have a boxed booklet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats the price? If it's just ok, look for a better deal. The booklet should not make or break the deal IMHO. You wear the watch, not the booklet. Good luck.

Yes, just to add to what others have indicated...

When you buy a new watch, the dealer is the one who 'assembles' the
box, manual, warranty card, etc for the buyer. The dealer gets the watch
and the 'extras' from Rolex separately. In fact, there are multiple styles of
boxes which a dealer can supply so there's no one 'correct' box for a
particular model.

Whether it's rational or not, there is definitely a 'collector bias' out in the
secondary market that it's more desirable to have a 'full set'. Whether
or not that is meaningful for regular, non-collectible watches is debatable.

The only thing which is tied to the watch is the warranty card, which has
the model and serial number on it. That's the only thing which one might
argue would impact the value of a set down the road. You can replace all
the other extras from third-party sources (ebay, dealer, etc). Since you say
the deal is good, and includes the warranty card, then I'd go for it and then
find the booklet later to complete your 'full set'.

In fact, since it's a recent model I'd go to a dealer and see if they will
give/sell you the booklet after you have the watch.

Best Regards,

Jack

Condition of the watch is what matters, everything else is secondary.............

Jumping the gun means starting before the starting gun and gets one disqualified. Good luck in the new purchase.
