Another Submariner Question
Is it true that two tone Submariners have a much lower resell price? I once heard that two toned Rolexes in general are much less desirable? How so?

Resale for TT models is not necessarily lower than their SS counterparts, but generally it's a significantly lower percentage of resale value from their original MSRP.
They're generally considered as less desirable because the majority of people appear to desire the SS models more. Obviously to some, TT subs will be more desirable. |

Absolutely, the real hit on resale is when bought new. When bought used and at fair market value, there's no reason why it shouldn't retain its value well, in my opinion. They're just not as popular as the SS subs, however they have their own following and if you like the watch, that's the best reason to get it

How great a price and how soon you plan to sell? Don't buy if owning it is going to keep you worrying about your investment. Buy if you can enjoy it. Welcome!

If the watch is well-bought, meaning that you got it at what really is a great price, then you could expect to sell it later for about what you paid for it, assuming that its condition is the same.
More important than a "good deal", is that you're buying the sub you really like. If you really like the TT Sub, then there's no reason not to get it. If you're getting it because the "deal" seems "better" on a used TT than an SS, by all means, hold your fire and get what you really like!! Otherwise you'll wind up regretting your purchase. |

I like the TT more. I was simply afraid that if I ever decide to flip it for something else down the road (2-5 years) I won't be able to get close to what I paid for.

In my experience, the fair market value of the tt sub keeps, going up. I paid $4300 for my 16808 black dial and insert back in 2012. I see them now going in the $5.5-6k range.

SS is the best value in a sub.
new, preowned and resale.
