Icon20 2014 Tudor Black Bay (Blue)

ICY FACE OF THE 2012 HERITAGE BLACK BAY
Finally, the bezel in a midnight-blue shade matching that of
the crown tube tempers the vibrancy of the steel case, while
lending an aquatic and highly functional dimension that echoes
the military past of certain brand references. Indeed, during
the second half of the 20th century, the Marine nationale
française (French Navy) was equipped with TUDOR divers’
watches, which were generally blue.
Like all models in the Heritage line, the TUDOR Heritage Black
Bay comes with two bracelets or straps: an adjustable black
and blue fabric strap with a sophisticated weave; and the other
a choice of either a midnight-blue distressed leather strap
matching the bezel, or a satin-finished and polished steel
bracelet, both with a folding clasp.

Needs lugholes and an acrylic dome, but otherwise great. Will look better the more scuffed and scratched it gets, too. Much more its own watch than the red, I think.

One of my friends picked up a red BB on strap today....a beautiful watch, a perfect weight, good wrist presence and a great value.

I know, and there ends its list of good points.

So it's not a lost art, they could have done it.

I guess I have to wait till next Basel to see if they'll release the BB in a black or grey bezel. Then I'll take the leap.

Very nice. Can't quite get there on the Tudor crown or the famous "snowflake" hour hand, but such a nice looking piece overall

If Tudor wants to go back in time (yes, panful) they could have made some manual wind models too

Its a very nice release but I personally could not rank it in preference to a Pelagos from a functionality point of view, nor would I prefer to wear it over say a Rolex 5513 or 5512.

However, if I was in the market for a rugged can do no nonsense relatively economical no-date Submariner, I would surely be interested to pick this watch up.

If it was 40mm... It would unmarred.

But I'd take it as is...

I agree.. I think that will be the niche this one will fall into.

Personally I still prefer the burgundy Black Bay, but blue is a more popular color and this one certainly fits that spectrum nicely..

I think that it's a little nicer looking on the bracelet..
