Go for the DSSD???

I am looking to head to my AD very soon, and was hoping to ask for friendly opinions on, is it worth selling my IWC Yacht Club and go for the Deepsea?

After owning my IWC Yacht Club for the last 5 months, I believe that the watch has a slight identity problem, meaning.... is it casual or dress? I am finding myself having a harder and harder time wearing it do to it size. I would not consider the DSSD an an "upgrade" by any means(as the IWC YC is a great watch!!!), but if you were in my shoes would you do it?

I'm an IWC fan - I'm wearing one right now - but the Yacht Club is at the bottom of my list of new IWC watches. I don't like it at all. Other IWC fans feel the same way about this one, so I'd expect to lose a good deal on a trade in or outright sale.

How about comfort of the DSSD, for its size? My wrist and size (generally speaking) is fully capable of the 43mm case, but how about its weight? Does it get annoying after a while? I currently have a Breitling Chronomat, I would imagine it must be comparable, right?

It's a tall watch, more than a big watch. However, even that is overstated. I wouldn't like it as my only watch though (it would never fit in a nicely tailored sleeve).

It is a tall watch like mentioned...

I agree that it should not be your only watch but again, it's personal preference...

For me, I can live with that...having it as my only daily watch. Maybe cause I am used to the height and weight...

The other watches I rotate my Dssd with...




I am a fan of Iwc too but like JP, the YC is not my fav...sold all of my Iwc and keeping only the 3536...you should know why...

So go for it, get the Dssd...

there are many times i wish things were different about the dssd (bracelet, height, weight, etc).

but, so far, ive put up with those things because of its other redeeming qualities...its really a great watch.

i do believe its one of those that youre just going to need to own for a while, to decide for yourself how all those things net out.

I am absolutely shocked that the 3536 looks larger than the DSSD. Can you post a wrist shot of each? I always thought my 3536 was big, but never the same size as the DSSD.

Also, If there is one thing I could change about the DSSD (besides the width of the bracelet, which I can live with) it is the writing on the dial. The writing on the dial is a reminder that it is the BIG BOY in the Rolex line-up, which is obvious and we do not need the reminder. I would have removed that inner bezel of writing and added more diameter to the dial.... however what do I know.

regardless, it looks great, clearly!

I hope to make a deal and post a photo next week!

I hated the text on the inner ring in macro shots. On the wrist it's a total non-issue IMO

DSSD is IMO the best watch rolex have ever produced ! Absolute tank of a watch really ! The divers glide lock system is so well designed it is a pleasure to use and wear !

Do It!! I wear mine 24/7!! It is slightly awkward when you wear it with a dress shirt as it does not fit under the sleeve but I just wear the sleeve above it.

Thanks! Trying something new. I like the look of the YC very much! The problem is the size. Trust me, I am one to enjoy a larger watch, but this one is strange. It is difficult to identify itself. Once again, I believe it is a beautiful watch.... Just tough to wear. Unfortunately it took some time for me to realize it.
