Hate Panerai !!!!

I will get right to the point here.

I am a large collector and I have always disliked-hated Panerai watches. I have everything besides Panerai. They always seemed overpriced and plain.

What changed? Why do I want it so bad?

I think after having all the others my addiction is in full force. There is something about the brown strap and the tobacco dial that screams to me and forces me to withdraw money from my account.

I have news for you folks I bought one and the postman is going to be here by 3pm! I am fired up to get this piece!!! This morning my wife said to me "Why do you have that stupid grin on your face?" "What did you buy now?" "I've never seen that grin-smirk that big before"

She's about to find out what that smirk is all about in just a few hours here!!

Not unusual. I too didnt get the Panerai look and have many brands of watches. Now Panerai is my favorite look/watch. Its like art. You either get it or you dont. The strap changing is all part of the fun and constantly gives your Pam a fresh look. Welcome to our "cult", I mean "club".
What model did you get???

Tobacco strap on a Panerai has that old world Italian look. Timeless and looks good with about any outfit.

The distinctive cases, the history and the straps; all part of the PAM bug.

Looking forward to the incoming!

Post up those pics when it comes in. I think every collection needs a PAM. Nothing else like it out there.

Now I'm very curious to know what specific PAM got you to do a 180...

Can't wait to see

Welcome to the addiction... who knows, maybe we'll even see you in Venice for P-Day XIII...

Congrats John on a very nice Pam! Seems lately that these are the hot watches here. I especially like the tobacco!

Thank ya sir. Gus has good taste! I started with the base because I wasn't sure on Panerai. Now I know! Crawl before you walk so to say.

Congrats on your 390 Gus is clearly an Enabler around here

Gold? Gold case? Rose / yellow / white (lol)? What are your criteria, aside from the obvious tobacco [-color] addiction

EDIT: A few to get you started, all rose-gold and brown dials (OP doesn't do much in yellow gold):

289 44mm Luminor 1950 8 days (essentially a 233 in gold)
344 44mm Luminor monopulsante (monopusher) 1950 8 days
379 47mm Radiomir base (2011 Special Edition)

The 379 is a "base is ace" beauty just like your 390 and the 289 / 344 are complication-rich.

Seeing as you already have a "base", well, I'm a sucker for 8-days movements...

The 190 and seeing as he's after a gold-case PAM, I did consider adding the 197 to the list, but it has a black "hobnail" dial... not really sure that fits the bill... :-/ I'm personally not a fan of the hobnail pattern...

c/o P-dot-com's Fernandez

EDIT: I forgot all about the new offerings, like...

398 - 47mm 1940 case - 12-3-6-sub-secs
513 - 42mm version of the 398
511 - 44mm 1940 new P.5000 8 days

522 - 47mm Radiomir with the Panerai "prototype" bezel from the 1930s - if you like gold cases, this one's ultra
Panerai OP XXVII calibre, base Minerva 16-17, 16¾ lignes
