Eleven James

Just saw a segment on CNBC on a new company called Eleven James.

http://www.elevenjames.com/

You become a member and you receive a luxury watch to wear (Rolex, Patek, IWC, etc) for 2 month intervals. Send it back and receive the next one! Interesting concept but not something I could ever see myself getting involved with. Much of the joy comes from actually owning the timepieces.

Interesting concept, sort of like Netflix for your wrist. I don't even want to think about the price...my guess, $10K/year.

From $249 per month... Wonder what it costs to actually wear an IWC...
And what happens if you smash it?

Sorry but I like wearing my watch because its mine, nobody elses but mine.
That's... wrong in my head.

I think they said it varies from 2k-27k per year depending upon which collection you participate in. 27k is a little steep for owning nothing at the end!

Well for some people its maybe a good price.
But if I had the money where it wouldn't really hurt me to pay $27k a year for nothing then I'd rather just save and buy one myself...

This kind of "rental" has been around for a while now. I've seen it with ladies handbags and even high end cars.

Doesn't look like they have anything really special there anyway.

I agree that it's an interesting concept, not to mention a great way to explore other high end brands. And I also agree that depending on your membership level, you could save your money and buy one of your own. But if members wore these watches the way people drive rental cars - with a little less care because they don't own it - then I'd be as concerned about the condition of my watch-of-the-month as I would be with the cost of my membership.

I also seen this on CNBC this morning, We have mentioned this before on this forum and I believe it is a good idea. I believe they said between 2.7k and 17.25k per year to be a member. You can also purchase the watch you are wearing if you choose to do so. They will also have GTG's where members can exchange watches. He also mentioned as a member you could choose up to 6 different $50,000.00 watches to wear in a year and that Rolex and Patek were the most popular, but they will handle all brands. (I would imagine membership would include shipping and insurance charges)

Very Interesting.

I believe they should also add a $100.00 a month club.

For $250 a month I would just put that back and have what ever I wanted, just my opinion.
