Maybe he'll be happy to keep your home free of bugs!

We used to get little yellow lizards in our house in San Antonio. Not sure what kind they were. Man, those critters were fast - impossible to catch.

Home for lunch and I saw him again. Yes, they are fast. I'm going to put a little water out for him.

Bas, everything is good especially now that Spring has decided to show up. We have a lot of clean up to do from Winter(leaves and debris blowing into our yard from the neighbors and the street) plus we had a lot of plants(perennials and evergreens)die due to the bitter, cold Winter we experienced and indured. Our Winter turned out to be the third snowest since they have been keeping records plus we had many days of bitter, frigid cold with the Windchill being -20F or worse. Also I'm noticing a lot of salt spray damage from the snowplows and salt used to keep the roadway cleared. Even though we live more than 100 feet from the road the salt spray can travel quite far do to the wind and the speed the plows were driving.....

That doesn't sound good...
We didn't have a 'winter' at all, no snow, no freezing.. I love winter when it's balanced, nice and cold and a bit of snow but not too much.

Afternoon everyone.. Wanted to pop in so say hi. Ive been super busy with work , babysitting and having a bit of a social life. Im back doing a slew of nights and Im none to happy about it. Oh well..Im on days next week so thats something to look forward to. Where's Carl? Did he go on a vacation or just taking time away? Odd to not see a post from him at all. Carl..hope all is well. Art, that little critter looks intimidating. LOL Im sure you are used to them, however, I would not be and he/she would not be in my place for long. LOL My brother and his family had an awesome time out in Naples/Ft.Meyers. The kids are "for sure we are going back to Florida". LOL My brother had to drag them out of the water kicking and screaming they didnt want to leave the beach. LOL Ive been told already next trip to Florida Im expected to accompany them. Ya, so the babysitter/nanny will be on hand.

Take care everyone...off to get ready for work.

HAPPY NURSES WEEK 2014!

Hello, 'shop! I've been reading here and there but just haven't felt too chatty lately. All is well; been busy with the garden and end-of-school activities for the girls. I've taken some pics of my peonies and iris (transplanted from my parents' place), Leo, and will get some of the climbing roses when more of them bloom. I also have a sick Jet Star tomato plant I've been trying to revive. Not enough water? Too much? Nematodes? A virus? The other three plants (different varieties) seem to be doing well.

Happy Nurses' Week, Judy!

Happy Day Of The Week To Everyone.....

Bas, are your Winter's usually this mild???
Wes, have you found a suitable box yet???
Art, anymore critters running around inside or outside of your home or business???
Judy, it must be hard to adjust your internal clock when you work a week of nights and then days and then back to nights.....
Lisa, sorry your tomato is not doing well...did you check for insects/disease? And how have them eggs been tasting lately???

Thinking about robins...we had a robin who just spent the last 3 weeks pecking at all of our outside windows, upstairs and downstairs...I guess it wanted in. Finally I believe it has moved on as we have had three days in a row where it didn't show up!!!

As for Carl...who's the artist in the group who can draw a "Where's Carl" picture and then we can look for him in the picture???

No, we usually have 2-3 months of subzero temperatures with 10-20 inches of snow (in my area that is, I live close the the German and Belgian border in the very south of the Netherlands and we have a lot of hills here which somehow leads to colder winters.)

Wes, is Carl the one with the red jacket?

Hi coffeeshop peeps. I need help on this plant please. It was really bushy the last 5 years and I had it cut back this year about 2 months ago.

It's never really bloomed and this year this pop out. Can anyone tell what kind of flower this is ? I don't know how to google search with picture. It's a desert plant, doesn't take much water and gets full sun everyday

Thank you
Mark

I have no idea about flower's, Mark. Can't even find a google image of the same one. Maybe it's a new species and we can name it.

Thank you. I'll name after my daughter then, Markie. Cause it's a beauty but has a little nice devil look to it.

Just kidding, I'll go to plant store and ask them.

Mark, sorry I can't help you with the plant'd ID... never seen anything like it but it's pretty. Wish Leo would happen by.... he might know.

I have a plant mystery, too. This tree has been growing right on the other side of the neighbor's fence for several years. I've asked him what it is, and he has no idea, saying it just started growing out of nowhere. There is another one just like it a few yards to the east, growing up out of another neighbor's compost pile. Both trees are about 15 feet tall, are deciduous, and have an interesting green bark. They look like no other kind of tree around here.

What do you think it is? I'm taking a wild guess: a pawpaw tree. That may just be wishful thinking, because I just ordered two of them for our own backyard. It would be nice if his tree was a pawpaw so they can help pollinate one another.

Closer look at the leaves:

The second one:

It's been pretty quiet here lately, Greg. Carl's gone missing and I guess we're all pining for him.

Sorry to hear things have been rough in your life. Worrying about aged parents is so draining... it's hard for them to heal, and the dementia only makes things more difficult.

Hope things get better for you soon.

Sorry to hear about dementia parents. I took care of my dad full time for 2 years until he passed 2012. It was a full time job. I know it's taxing and exhausting. But he enjoyed my company while I was taking care of him and I was lucky enough to spend a lot if time with him, telling him the TV controller was not the phone. Getting up early to cook his breakfest, lunch and dinner.

It's certainly a circle if life I found out. I was with him holding his hand when he died. He was a great dad to me and a wonderful grandfather as well.

Sorry to be a buzz kill with this, but I enjoyed doing things for him, he had a great life. He's in a special place with my mom now. I't certainly changed my out look on life for the better.

Regards, prayers and much respect for the children that are now doing this for their parents.

Mark

Hi Everyone, good to see you here Dawna, you don't post enough. Shame so many seem to be missing lately, Karis has disappeared from TRF at the moment as well.

Not sure what that tree is Lisa, strange looking green bark. We need a plant detective I think.

Sorry to hear about your mum, Greg.

Well my cat hating of late has changed, sure everyone saw this on the news today.

I saw that too, Wes. Very impressed with the cat. Very unimpressed with that dog and its owners. Glad the little guy is okay.

By the way, found out the tree is a Japanese Parasol tree, AKA Firmiana Simplex.

Hello CS, hope everyone is having a fine Friday We are having some lovely weather here, and think the weekend will be the same.

Not been playing much piano lately but sat down and tried to record some Chopin today.
