Hi everybody,

I received a preowned Datejust (16030) yesterday as a graduation present, and I've noticed it's running very fast. Seems like every 3 hours or so it gains a minute or two. Would this make you return the watch, or is it an easy fix?

sounds like the balance spring is eather fouled or magnitized. easy fix

I would think a simple regulation would be in order here. For this any watchmaker can generally do this even while you wait

lets see some pics and congrats on both the new Rolex and the graduation

Welcome to the Forum - congrats on the graduation and hopefully a quick demag and reg will solve it.

But you'll never be late with it running that fast

Demag or regulation if it's consistent more likely reg.

First did you give your watch a full manual wind 40 full crown turns clockwise and what was your testing method.You cannot test any watch like you say seems like it gains a minute or two.Now after giving your watch a full manual wind set time with a reliable time source if you have a quartz watch that will do.Once you have synchronized with your checking source then wear your watch but for 8 hours plus a day.Check time once only daily write down the loss or gain then average out loss or gain over the 5 days for a more accurate result.Now the most they can pull back by regulation is around 150 seconds on the balance wheel screws

I'm seeing a 2-minute, 7-second gain over 4 hours. I synced the datejust with my iphone to test the speed. A 12-minute 42-second gain (extrapolating) each day seems very fast! Is this beyond something a service center can fix?
