Old family art
My great aunt painted these
![]() 1927 ![]() (obligatory lamb picture for JJ) ![]() My pictures cannot show the details. When my father cleaned out her house after she died I was lucky enough to take these 2 home. There were others that he kept. Back then she had to stretch the canvas herself. She used to explain to me that back then if they wanted a painting they had to paint it themselves. If they wanted a rug they had to weave it their self. Good lessons really.

WOW, Bill......that is some very serious stuff there.
![]() ![]() Have you had them appraised by an expert? Are they insured? While I may not be an expert on the subject, those appear to be very good...and also very old. Your great aunt must have used some very special colours to hold fast and firm and survive these years. Were these done at the turn of the 19th Century? Great stuff!! ![]() ![]()

The smaller one was done in 1927 and the other was done around the same time period but I could not find a date. Maybe it's on the back. I have not had them appraised but I should. I should hire an appraiser to walk around and photograph some of the furniture, art and my wifes teacup collection. I'm sure these things are not anything too special but still they've stood the test of time and should be insured.
Funny I like art but I don't typically like artists. Go figure.
