Hey Wes, I like your humor and the custom made sign. Also enjoyed listening to the classical song you played the other day for all of us...are you still enjoying your car and going for drives in the countryside???

Take care.....Leo

Wes, that was such a pretty song. It still boggles my mind that you can memorize entire pieces like that! Thank you for letting us listen.

Sorry I haven't been around much... this time of year there's a lot going on with the kiddos - their last days of school and activities going on around that.

Leo - I think my Buff Beauty climbing roses have thrips! Do you have any suggestions about what might help get rid of them? They're only on the blossoms. The foliage is fine. And, the Westerland roses are fine, too.

Thanks guys. Yes Leo, love my car, not been on too many nice drives, need to rectify that.

Your garden looks nice Lisa, you can tend my garden anyday.

Good Morning Lisa,

Hi, just saw your request for assistance against Thrips(Insects)on your climbing roses. If you do have one of the species of Thrips on your climbing roses(Flowers) a good "Natural Control" for them is Pyrethrum. Pyrethrum is made from the Chrysanthemum flowers and will not adversely affect animals and humans. As long as you follow directions and apply accordingly to them you and the chickens should be okay. Please understand you will need to spray more than once since it's very hard to kill the infestation with one treatment. Thrips damage the flowers by piercing and sucking the sap(adults and larvae) from plants and all you have to do is miss one female and she will lay thousands of eggs and does not need a male, to continue this cycle on your climbing roses. Pyrethrum whether used as a spray or dust will kill them on contact but remember sunlight does breakdown this natural chemical. You will also need to treat the soil(as a Soil Drench)around the roses as well. Good luck and let me know if you decide to use a stronger commercial chemical and I will look up which ones work on controlling Thrips.....

Take care.....Leo

If the birds don't get them first!

Greg, cover the tree with netting, especially made for fruit trees, to keep the birds from getting your fruit!!!

HELLO MY LONG LOST FRIENDS!!!!!

I know it has been months since I last visited the forum and coffee shop, and I've missed you all tons....but I have a GREAT excuse.....

I HAD A BABY!!!!

Yes, I am a mommy and have been super busy to say the least!!! I never really mentioned my pregnancy here as I'm quite a private person, but I'm now starting to get a little bit of time back to myself and have really been wanting to check in!!!

Life has sure changed!!!! For the better!!! I have a gorgeous baby girl who is the light of our lives. I fully intend to teach her all about watches!

I hope you're all doing well and I'm going to do my best to pop in when time permits, but bare with me!

Hugs all around!

Yes good thanks, and car is all good. Did notice you've been missing for a while. It's been pretty quiet in the coffeeshop. Carl has also been missing for a while, maybe he is off having a baby too.

Karis, fantastic news...I'm so happy for you and your husband. Being a parent brings such joy to your lives and the changes are always for the better. To think that you are now responsible for the care of a new life can be scary and at the same time so wonderful and fulfilling. Savor every moment and event because time flies. There will be many firsts' in her life like rolling over, crawling, standing up on shaky, wobbly legs. Then walking around the furniture to eventually balance and begin her first steps. Just think her first Halloween, Christmas, Easter and Birthday, dunking her french fries in catsup and then when she starts school in Kindergarden. Before you know it you are dropping her off for her first year away at College...as you wipe tears from your eyes.....

What is her name and does she look just like you?

For me, being a Father and raising a child opened my eyes and heart and to think I am someone's Dad is just an amazing feeling. Wish you the best with your baby daughter and look forward to hearing progress reports. Take care and remember to give yourself some alone time each day...even if it's to take a nap or soak in the tub while she naps!!!

Gorgeous tree. They die back every year around here. Looks like yours don't. Do you preserve the figs or just eat them fresh?

Here's Phoebe, doing what teens do while on our way to a dinner for her 8th grade graduating class. Graduation ceremonies are this evening. The child borrowed two dresses from a friend - she has nothing but jeans and shorts in her closet!

The tomboy, transformed.

We eat them fresh mostly.....Delia did can some a few years back when it produced more than we could eat. We give some away to the Neighbors every year also.

Thank you Leo! You're too kind It's already amazing....incredibly overwhelming at first and yes, scary....but now it's a bit more settled and I am smitten with her! She's a happy girl, always smiling. Head full of dark hair! Can't get enough of her, as tiring as it is! Life will never be the same, that's for sure!
