Icon7 Attention Pilots...Calling ALL pilots..............!!!!!!!!

hey from West Palm Beach....looking to connect with fellow Pilots and Rolex / watch enthusiast.

If you've taken one intro flight, or perhaps have your private pilot license, maybe you're an airline captain, or just fooling around in your F15....speak up, would love to hear from you guys and GALS....!!

For myself, I'm an ex-Medical Evacuation Pilot, 3,500TT, mostly fixed wing twin turbine. No longer active commercially. Now only flying privately and looking to purchase a small GA plane, fractional ownership or join a club....

Hi

Not current, got my license at age 20, but let it lapse. Thinking of getting caught up lately, but part of me says it is a selfish act now that I have a daughter

Got my private licence back in '75 in Alaska. IFR, Floats; flew all over Alaska for a decade (wearing a GMT Master)

Enjoyed the adventure. Alaska didn't have any roads then and you were almost forced to fly. Now in the Lower 48 it doesn't seem as practical and has gotten pricey and so I haven't been in the cockpit for a number of years.

You gotta' pick your hobbies..

Sim pilot here.

Thinking of getting my PPL, and perhaps even a plane! They're not too expensive. 80 grand Euro could buy me a nice little two seater.

I'm not a pilot, but I belong to the Commemorative Air Force, Lobo Wing. Our wing has a fully restored Fairchild PT-26 Cornell that took around 12 years to restore and a Beech AT-11 Kansan that we are currently restoring.

There's a lot of talent in our group. I'm just not one of them. I belong because I got to know some of the members, so they asked me if I'd join.

I own restoration and aircraft sponsorships for both planes and while I'm not a pilot, the wing can use my aircraft sponsorships to allow pilots who don't own sponsorships to fly our plane or planes, as the case may be.

I kind of doubt that any of us will still be alive when the AT-11 is completely restored. We're not that far off in terms of restoration, but we need another $100k for two radial engines.

Raising that kind of money will be a task.

Very cool Grady!

The Yankee Air Museum in Willow Run, MI is out my way. Amazing to see those old war birds fly. I had a chance to take a ride in their B-17 "Yankee Lady" a few years back but it unfortunately didn't work out.

I really respect the effort and commitment it takes to keep that history alive.

Thank you, tfduff723.

I was supposed to go with the wing to an airshow at Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM, this last weekend, but as I was leaving the gas station to drive out to our hangar, some guy sideswiped my car, so I was a little tied up that weekend.

I get the car back on Monday, if I'm lucky.

Bummer - hope it was just sheet metal that got banged up!

Your pics sparked my interest again and I now plan to go to the YAF show this summer. It's called "Thunder Over Michigan". Went a few years back and it was incredible. You can also tour the museum at Willow Run which is housed in the actual "Rosie the Riveter" plant. Fantastic history and experience.

For anyone interested here is their link:

Getting my license is on my bucket list. Took an intro flight but found out twins were on the way, so I had to delay it. Now, flight sim is as close as I can get.

I can certainly understand that! Although I have no kid (thinking about it) I get excited at the idea that this would be a great hobby to pass on to kid (along with a Rolex...!!) thanks for for posting!

Alaska!! Live it.... I flew over the Rockies, Ketchikan and Anchorage were common destinations for me.... Love that part of the world... I think the word is humbling when it comes to piloting in those areas!

Great to here! Although always remember to buy the plane you can afford to operate and maintain, not just purchase! I would love to own a Aero L39, one can be had for $150k, but maintenance, operating reserve and fuel per your hover over $3,000 per hour! keep me posted!!

Amazing!! I wish you were closer to me! I'd be all over you...... I mean the restoration project!! One of my all time favorite aircraft!!!!

have you considered approaching Pratt & Whitney Canada for a sponsorship (I used to work for them) if I'm not mistaken, that aircraft used to be powered by two P&W Radials...

I'm a pilot, but not current. I did a brief stint in 1999 flying B1900s. Hated flying professionally. For me it took all the fun out of flying. I still have a lot of friends that do it though. Sometimes I wish I would have stuck with it, but it just wasn't a lifestyle for me. I'm too much of a home body.

I got out of flying then, and got into ATC instead. Been doing this since 2001.

I have similar feelings about getting back into it....I didn't hate as much as you but I worked for some pretty shady outfits and hated the cutting corners....

Nice to see you stuck with the industry! ATC is fantastic!

SE / ME CPL IFR and SeaPlane

One day I'll do my ATP Rating . . . .

Started when I was young and beautiful . . . .

I own a 150 HP Super Cub . . . my little baby

Maybe I will sell it since I want to go for a 'intro' Military Jet like a L29 / L39 / Fouga

The only thing is that they burn between 600 to 800 liters per hour . . .

Time will tell

Maybe one day . . . maybe never . . . that's life I suppose

Great welcome! Love the 737....! But yes, small panes are fun and addictive...! I just got a GMT so now I'm working on the small plane...

Mate, I'd check the laws first but I'm pretty sure selling a Cub is illegal.... Love that plane!! I knew a guy who had an L39 in Seattle...amazing machine but all I can remember is him telling me it was $3000/hr to operate....I've never done the math to validate but that's corporate jet rate right there.....!!

But I'm sure they'd be a lot of fun....if you ever move to Fl, I'll go Fractional with you on an L39.....

I worked in Aviation in the 90's. I ran the FBO at ACK in the mid 90's and I was fortunate to be able to see a lot of really nice vintage and high end aircraft. I really appreciated when the few mill/billionaires who flew decommissioned fighters would land, climb up on the plane and grab the nozzle to top off with JET-A (stinky, nasty stuff). Then they would go off to hang out with their Gulfstream riding buddies. (Vintage Sub or YG Diamond President?)
